I'm on a real Crimson Skies kick right now. I spent all day today making the Brigand from scratch. The Devastator someone else made and I just modified. This one is all my own.

That looks really good, did you model it in C4D? Ozzy the crimson sky universe is very interesting and unfortunately they didnt make the newest games for the PC only the X-box.

@BK, yes infact I did it all in C4D. I'm starting to get the hang of modeling. Since I didn't have ANY cross sections or profiles to work from, it was all guess work. Still not good enough to learn how to animate in it, but its a powerful modeler, if you know how to use it.

@Oz, it's like Indiana Jones, in the air.

Quick lesson on math and modeling:
You have a point in space, XYZ coordinates. You have 2 points, connect them with a line. 3 points in space and you have a triangle floating in space. 4 points and suddenly you have a triangular pyramid with 4 sides. Modeling something is all about putting points in the proper place and connecting them with lines. And the ease of doing all that with some artistry depends on the program that you use.

Hmmmm, that looks to be easier than Blender in some respects. That is what I do when I create a model. Essentially, I just start with a dot make another dot, connect the dots to other dots, make a face, until I have a model of something. I'll have to try C4D to see how easy it is. What about coloring the models how easy have you found that?

I don't do any texture work within C4D because I haven't figured that out yet. I've recently tried using UVmapper. Goto Bjornlo's turtorials for a link. It's a complicated process that I've only just now started to learn how to do. It's what I used for the upgraded Devastator on the previous pages.

For lack of a better place and since this is my thread; I thought I'd write this little tidbit while my planes rendered. These are some of the constant stream of questions and PM's I get on this forum. I thought I'd take the time and give a blanket answer for all as I encounter them.

Have any amphibian plane units been made?
All the planes are listed by their names and I have no idea what an amphibian plane would be called. (probably something like an XQ324-1Z or something*)
*sorry, a pet peeve of mine is when aircraft unit makers call their airplane by it's real name. I guess that's okay for the like two people out there who know the difference between a "MiG-15" and a "YF-23", but for the rest of us can you call them "WW2 fighter jet, USA" or "modern bomber, Israel" so we know how to use them.

This is a very typical newbie mistake where they miraculously use the search function of the forum, and find a favorite subject that hasn't been commented on in 1,2,3 or ever 4 years. Well, this looks like job for the brilliant witicisms of this generation's Oscar Wilde.... It's SuperNewb to the rescue.

No one cares. Infact, we don't care so much about your opinion on this matter than many of us want to crucify you as an example for other dummies. It's a HUGE pet peeve of the other 99.9% of the forum to see long dead threads being commented on and pushed to the top of the forum. If it were up to me, I'd give warnings/infractions according to the severity of the resurrection and how useless the post was. Poeple will only pay attention if you punish them. And Newbs don't pay attention to warning signs. Why punish? Well resurrecting a 4 year dead thread is atleast as annoying as your average troll posting, that's why.

Do you have bodypaint for C4D? I believe that is what is used for texturing although I could be wrong. It might be easier than using UV mapper as a seperate program.
