I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said. The sub-forum has evolved beyond what it started out as, there is little prevention occuring to keep out the unwanteds at the moment so I see no problems with more visibility, and I can only think of one problem that might occur- so long in the future, so it wouldn't really matter. Through I doubt anyone actually cares for it, the whole project has my best wishes.

(If its needed) TF could always grant someone the mod power to move threads, and they could move them over.

I Dont think this will be needed however.

That would lead someone to abusing the power... Imagine, me moving the forum!!! I would probably mess everything up!!!!!

I doubt anyone, let alone Thunderfall would be stupid to give it to anyone that isn't trustworthy.

Words literally escape me. Um. I think the forum mods would not take the implication in the above post as a compliment.

Even if old threads are not lost in a move now, perhaps we should consider finding a way of backing up some of the older NESes. Just in case (god forbid), the worst should happen to CFC somehow, it may be best to save the old updates, maps, and diplomacy from the older NESes. I've started on a project to preserve Return to Our Roots 2, but there's many older NESes which need to be protected and I certainly can't do all of them.

My own idea is to use the NESwiki to somehow keep the old NESes available to the NES community. Any suggestions on the actual way to store them?

One way is to download all the threads. But that comes out in a messy format and is text only.

I was thinking of going post by post and update by update and converting them all to a moderately organized format in Microsoft Word. I also am cutting out spam and flaming posts from RTOR 2. Ah the glories of the uncivilized and unstructured golden age of NESing. Completely forgot some of the things I called das and others back then. Good times.

You should leave the flaming in, the flaming made the nes!

I'm sure the old threads will get packed up and moved along as well.
They're not moving. We're just asking TF to edit our link in the forum main page.

I wish I'd been around then. I've always enjoyed retro-NESes.

There were 10 RtoR's as far as I can tell, with only a few of those going any length. What stopped more being made.. and if they were "returning to our roots" how far had "normal" nesing progressed by then?

This was posted in the wrong thread:

lurker's comment: I know it's probably not my place to comment, but how do you know for sure that this proposed move will be approved?

You can say 'it's just moving a few links' all you like, but the fact is that Thunderfall (understandably) doesn't like to fold to every poster pressure group that tries to make him do something or other, as Abaddon will confirm. (Still waiting on that name change, eh Aiken?)

The Science and Technology forum is an exception, since that was a poster-backed initiative, but that also had moderator backing in the form of Knight-Dragon and ainwood, possibly more, so that had more weight on the bargaining scales.

RTOR stopped being made because I and other people successfully killed the name with a series of miserable NESes. They almost all had different rulesets, but RTOR2 was by far the best of them. After RTOR3, they werent really "return to roots" so much as just another name like JNES or UKNES.

i say, stay - what the hell is the point of moving?
sure, NESing no longer quite fits in the traditional "definition" of "Stories & Tales," but that's just pure semantics. this forum has been here since the beginning, so it's got a pretty established spot. why move? seriously? why are we constantly regurgitating the same debate? i actually wonder if some ppl that vote "yes" are just sick and tired of it coming up over and over again and just want to move for the sake of an end to repeated polls like this

personally, if i come on one day and the forum is not in the civ3stories/tales section, i'm just going to log off. i'm not going to be looking through all the sections/subsections trying to find out where the damn thing has gone. it's been here since the beginning - why move it now?
and anyone proposing moves to a completely different site - that's worse, that's far more impractical. if this for some reason gets transferred to a completely different site, i'm not going to move w/ it. there is no point in having to re-register (yes, i know it's simple, but why when i've got a perfectly good account here?) and transfer all the info from here to there, and just no, it's stupid.

i say STAY! we've been here since the beginning - why change it now?

i know that they're thinking of moving it just to a different section of CFC (though some have said something about different sites, which is why i said something about that in the first palce), but again with that, what's the point? why? does it really itch that much that NES is in the Civ3Stories/Tales section? REALLY?

Kam, just read through the various threads, we have discussed this, and answered your questions already.

i pointedly refuse to, because, again, what's the point? why is there a need for me or anyone to have to sift through various threads about an issue that has been regurgitated time and time again and, for the several times it came up we stayed here anyway?
it seems hard-headed probably but, NO

No offense Kam, but you're way late.

This thread should probably be shut down as it's sort of past the point of relevance now.

whatever - point is, i've been opposed to the notion since as long as i was part of CFC and its been brought up, and my view hasn't changed, and i think moving it is just stupid especially if it's just because of nomenclature
