Muting the Trumpets

And where will you deport them? If you don't want to share a country with deportarians, don't you think you should aim for a peaceful solutions? I'm sure they don't want to share a country with you either

Antarctica. For their to be a peaceful solution, they would first have to drop their racist bloodlust.

Remind me again, who's the commander-in-chief again? What about the military itself? Is that a strong base of support for the democrats?

I doubt there will be a civil war in the next six years.

These kinds of protests and kicking out behaviours and general in-your-face-ness have been around forever and it didn't lead to a massive breakdown in this country. Biden was denied a campaign stop at a bakery in 2012 and Paul Ryan and the GOP championed the guy who rejected him at speeches and photo ops. Kim Davis was a hero to Republicans and paraded around for weeks afterwards by conservative figures. Speeches and dinners have been interrupted for many many years. I mean, politicians used to shoot each other! These are non-violent altercations. These people honestly deserve way, way worse than being asked politely to leave a single restaurant.

Right. Well, good luck with that I suppose, I'm sure your civil war is going to go well

Right so when the right passes bills and pushes for court cases to allow them to actively discriminate on the basis of gender/race/religion, that's acceptable political action.
I looked at my post again and didn't find anywhere that I would consider that acceptable political action so what's you point?
All I was proposing was a little common decency. If that's off the plate, then the country is already lost. At least as I knew it.
I refuse to become what I abhor.

As I understand the situation, a combination of laws and court decision(s) limited immigration to holding children no more than 20 days. That meant families couldn't be held for more than 20 days, I'd take advantage of that if I was crossing the border. So we let them go and gave them a court date and too many dont show up. Its not open borders since I assume we do investigate their stories and some dont get in but a <20 day limit is basically catch and release. We're being paid back for our crimes in Central America.

But they were showing up. 98% or so of those who came with asylum claims showed up for court dates when there was an actual, reasonable asylum process going on. Families were housed together, not incarcerated separately to then have the kids shipped off to foster agencies, while the parents get deported.

While the temporary housing wasn't all that great, and the unaccompanied minors' housing pretty awful, the process was not designed to show cruelty to helpless people for the purpose of stoking the racial animus of the president's political supporters.

You're putting it on the same playing field by saying it isn't acceptable. Your post was flirting with false equivalency so I felt the need to point that out.

Actually your doing that by saying that I it means I should find it acceptable. These are not the same types of actions. One is politics and the other is a common courtesy.
It's like how Lex justifies his being a bully here. They are awful people so they deserve his bullying. I don't agree with that and I don't agree with this. I would ban these people from my house but not from my public place of business. However, they might get that special sauce. ;)

Getting your business shut down by a health inspector because you're horking up a fat loogie into someone's food is preferable to just not serving that person?

If that's off the plate, then the country is already lost. At least as I knew it.

I'm glad you're starting to get the idea. Here's a hint: the country was lost long before people started being mean to Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a restaurant.

If I had my choice, these Trump administration people would be hanging from gibbets for their crimes, not driven out of restaurants.

They have to catch you. And having worked in restaurant for a while when younger, the health inspector never find out.

That type of behavior would only encourage like return.
Just because were over the edge doesn't mean you have to give it the final push.
I guess the optimism in me just won't die yet. And actually I'm glad of that.

Oh right, as if the alt-right and the Trumpoids need any encouragement. If they had their way I'd already be incarcerated in a concentration camp for political prisoners.

I guess the optimism in me just won't die yet. And actually I'm glad of that.

Listen to that audio of the shrieking children for a few minutes, it'll clear that optimism right up.

My thinking is that the left has tried to play things fair and by the book and all it got us was two stolen elections and a stolen SCOTUS appointment. I used to decry the way the Republicans destroyed the normal function of government and wanted the left to stay far away from those tactics. Unfortunately, the GOP keeps winning by tearing up the rule books. The time to be civil is past, we are approaching an inflection point for our democracy.

I offer you as proof of potential escalation. "hanging from gibbets"

That is a common theme from Bill Maher. On the surface, I agree BUT again the cycle will swing back. It always has and it always will. (short of them cancelling elections) I refuse to become them and will bide my time.

They don't have to cancel elections, just make them meaningless. Which has already largely happened in many states due to Republicans drawing the electoral districts and will happen throughout the country when the Trump Administration does the census.

We have literal traitors in our government. I don't know how much more things can escalate from the right before executions are both warranted and appropriate.
