The plan:
1. Build two settlers for these locations: a) pigs + horse + iron + double silk, b) fish + clam + incence + corn.
2. Capture and keep the last barbar city. My axeman with 9 experience points will try to gain next experience level.
3. Research CoL and build (or whip?) courthouses. Then research CS.
4. Finish the exploration of my continent.
5. Build some cottages. I don't think I want cottages in the capital since I can use it as a GP farm until workshops. So maybe the pigs + horse + iron + double silk city and the barb city would be good for cottages.

Main points.

1. More workers needed.
2. Cottages in capital. It would be a shame to put the academy there and run specialists.
3. Expand and take final barb city.
4. Tackle happiness issues?? Monarchy? Calender?
5. Decide what if anything to do about Germans. They have some nice cities worth grabbing before feudalism.

Otherwise keep working on your economy. Chop all that forest for workers/settlers.

I thought about it for a while and think that I will build some cottages in the capital and go for bureaucracy. I think that the AIs will research monarchy/calendar soon and with our good relations, I will be able to trade for it. The final expansion phase will be now (including of taking the last barb city). This will not help my economy so I prefer waiting until cannons/rifles/cuirassiers with my first war. Maybe Frederick will build some more wonders meanwhile.

I would really like to here your opinions for the next round. I feel very uncertain about some issues.

1. I will convert to burreaucracy on this turn. By doing this, I can also adopt slavery or caste system but which one is better? Slavery would allow me to whip the remaining infrastructure which would be great namely in the newest cities and aslo for universities later. OTOH, caste system would immediately allow me to run 4 GS in the N city and 6 later with clam and lighthouse (but maybe only 5 to work the mine).

2. What to research next and what to do whith my GSs? I will get one GS in 2 turns. I prefer researching paper and lightbulbing education now.

3. Frederick founded christianity and it is possible that he will build the AP. This is good :) but what to do to avoid votes about stopping a war once I decide to whip him out ?

4. With CS, I can finally spread some farms to the "not so food heavy" cities. But should I farm all those brown tiles or what to do with them? Just ignore them?

I did a quick run this afternoon, not going to bother finishing it though. I took out Frederick from the start with HAs after he built me a bunch of wonders... and then Gilga decided to go after a cultural vic, making him fall hopelessly behind in tech and I moped him up easily before he could get close to the finish.

Don't think I"m going to waste my time on any more non-pangea maps.

Obsolete, if you don't mind posting your save here, I would like to look at it once I finish the game and compare it with my progress.

still not enough workers imo :-) you need more...especially now with chain irrigation.
Irrigate Akkad asap.

You need more cottages around cap and you should work them.

Don't like current bpt at 100%.

I kind of don't like what you're doing with Cimmerian, I kind of would irrigate the whole east for whips of army.

you have Iron and Horses, I would probably concentrate on the Cuirs->Cavs path. You will need whips, so really concentrate on food and mines.

I am not sure if hunting OU is your best option now since the capital doesn't look like there will be great benefit with the lack of cottages (and grown cottages).

I would wait for more input from other folks... I am not sure how I would proceed from this point.

You have nice production in most of your cities, but several are lacking on food. Now that you have CS available, start chain farming to the cities with lowest surplus (+1 just doesn't cut it... +4 should be the minimal acceptable... +6 is decent and +8 is great :)).

Instead of building Aqueducts in cities that don't need them right now... workers might be better at this stage of the game... but I did not open the save so it's what I could glance from the screenshots.

The workers: I have 10 of them. Do you realy think I need more?

Cottages: Yes, I will cottage the capital. I am working mines at the moment just to build the garden (for happeness) quickly.

Current bpt: I know, this is bad. This is because I started building cottages very late but I beleive it will increase quickly now.

Cimmerian: I need some commerce cities and this was an obvious choise. I don't think I have enough food to whip my army so I intend to build it with hammers. Is it a stupidity?

The Cuirs->Cavs path: I intended the same tech path. We are aggresive so maybe riflemen would be also good but I would like to finish the war ASAP once it comes to it.

Oxford university: Even if I don't hunt it, education is a good tech path, or not? But maybe I even could slowly build OU in Cimmerian?!

Waiting for more input: I would like to hear some more opinions but unfortunately, it seems that this game is not of much interest for others. I will wait until tomorrow and see.

@kossin: Hmm, I will think about how many more workers I need. Obviously, I am the only one who thinks that I have enough of them :crazyeye:

As I said, I didn't open the save. If you feel you can irrigate 8 cities quickly enough with your 10 workers, that's good enough. A city almost stagnating doesn't lose much though from building a worker when in need.

cimmerian doesn't have any hammer tiles except for the grass cow (the corn you decided to share with the incense city, which should imo get the border pop and work the clams instead).

you want to irrigate that corn too btw.

So the cottages everywhere in cimerian won't help you much.

I would put OU (if you do it) in capital to get +50% commerce tied with the 100% multiplier of OU.

You underestimated the cottages in capital. That's holding you back (Capital is probably the only place I would cottage and long ago to grow the cottages).

nonriverside tiles in cimerian without multipliers (and no good way to build them and grow back in time) won't cut it imo (they will be at best 2f4c tiles after 10+15+30 turns of constant working them) 55 turns is a lot and every tile is locked from whipping (so the infra will come forever with 3h in city).
Would be better imo to farm it over grow the city to size a bit and then whip the infra ;-) and later units... Every size 4 city with good food surplus can serve as solid Cuirs whip pump.

And i think Gumbolt had a lot of interest ;-).

btw calendar would be good target tech for you... 3 happy sources

and you should maybe open Monarchy with going PH immedietaly... you should have HR long ago imo :-)

Well, you surely have enough workers if non-river grasland is cottaged when not being FIN ;)
Way too late now to use cottages, your strong points here are food and a GS coming soon to bulb philo, run caste/Paci and use all the food for breeding specialists.

Easily winnable with the good old bulbing path towards Lib/Curassiers, your basic game looks okay :) But forget those cottages in Dur Kuri for example, could have worked sea tiles there till you use if for epecialists or prod. It is a very very bad thing to get used to cottages where they make no sense, just for the pleasing look of them being there.

Ok folks, you have just ruined all my plans :crazyeye: But I started this game to learn something new and I certailnly have a better chance to win if I follow your time-tested ways of play than playing it my way.

So what do I plan to do NOW:
1. Cottage the capital ASAP.
2. Farm almost everything else ASAP. Build farms even over the cottages which are already there.
3. Build more worker to build all those farms ASAP.
4. Research monoethism, bulb philosophy and run caste system, burreaucracy and pacifism. Run scientists.
5. Go for MT.

@Mylene: Maybe easily winnable for someone who knows how to win wars easily. That's not me unfortunately.

3. Build more worker to build all those farms ASAP.

You have enough workers, it's a bit of a standard advice when things give food for thought...hey i know, he needs more workers! ;-p
That would be the same as saying "he doesn't know how to move them", bad advice.

obvious problem is that he lacks worker turns.
the issue is that he doesn't have enough workers to fill out those worker turns.
Especially when so many of them was wasted in north and not invested around capital.

He is exactly at jump point where he quickly needs big number of worker turns in shortest amount of time (for example 4 workers can irrigate 1 tile typically in 1T which is something that would be most of use here, if he makes 2 such pairs, he has 2 workers for roading... and we talk about irrigating in only 2 directions when he needs something like 3-4).

What I would advise is to up the number of workers with ~4 more workers asap.

And there are still standing some trees around...

Some thoughts off the top of my head:

1. If building cottages - build them early and work them diligently. This usually means that you should cottage up either your capital, or one of your first cities.

2. Non-riverside cottages are crap. The calculations are available somewhere around this forum. Your commerce city should ideally have enough flooplains/riverside grassland. In your game only Sippar looks like a good commerce city (but oh man, what a waste of a perfectly good production city). Babylon is ok, but you should have chopped all riverside forests and cottaged the river thouroughly. (This would probably mean that all the corn should have been shared with some of the other cities so that it would not stay unuilized).

3. Monarchy should have been a priority - not only this gives you a happiness boost (and you have some army after capturing those barbarian cities) but would also improve relations with Gilgamesh (HR favorite civic).

And suddenly I am too sleepy to give you advice on the upcoming turns. It seems bland criticism is far easier than constructive counsel. :D

p.s.: I liked your 'no-loss' demolition of barbarian hordes. It seems the 'rand' has shown some love. :goodjob:
