My game on Immortal

quicker to check with 1 cuir... from what I saw yesterday DP has to heal up first and then concentrate troops since he has it in 4 cities.

I think that's around 8 turns of scouting turns.

I wouldn't wait for all the units to heal for 8 turns! He will face rifles by then!!!! He needs to declare once he has 30 units or so ready at mostly 80-90% strength. He needs a super medic!!!

You really only need 10-15 at full strength as the rest can still take out weakened Ai units and heal up on promotions. Were not expecting a huge army are we?

Collosus is already obsolete with astronomy??
The wonders are obsolete or not depending of the techs the owner has. As DP does not have astro, the collosus will work for him
It is a shame he has no real economy to produce EP against the Ai capital. He has 400 EP points on Gilga but he has not set a target AI for espionage. So this could of been rising 20 points a turn but instead is +4 a turn.
The lack of a proper economy is a unfortunate consequence of the war prep... the lack of focus on EP is a mistake though. Ok, he was focusing of Fred before, but even then there is no reason to be on 1:1 now
Even so 40-45 curs should be enough to take out the cities. Most curs should be level 1-2+ now after the first war.
It should the trick if played properly
I don't think Gilga is a big unit spammer but 1.1 seems rather low on the power rating given all the curs floating about! it could just be stables, baraacks walls etc. It could also be 3-4 LB defending each city. I learned long ago that power ratings mean very little at times due to way the Ai over build. Looking at game I can see he has steel already. So expect cannons/ long bows/knights and mace/muskets?
Indeed. I feel safe to attack a AI in Immortal @ 0.6-0.8 of his power. And to add, cuirs can make flanking damage to cannons ( if you find the cannons outside of a city ), so the big issue is most likely the CG II/III garrisons ...

Personally i would go in with a good strong 30 unit stack and 15 unit strong second stack. The danger is Gilga can attack Hamburg and Berlin on first turn of war as his knight can attack with ease. There is no cultural buffer zome around Berlin or Hamburg. Before the war check his main cities for units and deploy main stack towards capital before he reaches rifles. if he does have a stack entice it out into open field to attack it. If you wait too long you will be facing an army of rifles.
I do not fear a Gilga counterstrike ... simply because it is a AI on the other side :D . They will most likely target first the troops inside of their territory, that will be the situation in hand.

The real issue is that Gilga is close of rifles ( how close ... I simply don't know. The bad part of picking the game at spaces is that you don't get the feeling of how the game is flowing so easily as that , and here we have no EP based intel :/ ). CG III rifles will shred cuirs :(

Anyway, IMHO war must be declared soon exactly because of that. There is most likly little time to heal or even to scout. The real critical intel is to know the forces around Eridu and Uruk , that can be got in 2 turns of scouting anyway ...

So I played the next round and was very succesful! I captured all Gilga's cities and the continent is finally in our hands! I will soon post some details. Thanks to all who helped me with the war preparation!

Didn't even need the advice i bet. :goodjob:

Now to shape the economy for your big win. :)

And then...

I attacked with three stacks. The two western stacks are as in r_rolo1's plan. The eastern stack is very small to capture a city, consists of units which have just healed and only marchs to Eridu.

Pretty good job. Next task is to reach rifles and astronomy and go bash some AI over the sea. 2-3 vassel and the game should be won.

Unless you can get a diplomatic win somehow? Space would of course be just as easy from here on in. Encouraging the Ai to war across the ocean will help.

So it is the time to start thinking about the fastest victoty. I almost think about researching Astronomy, building ~14 galleons and attacking some AI on the other continent with ~40 Cuirassiers (some of them are highly promoted). Nobody has Gunpowder at this moment. Maybe it would be worthwhile to find out what do I need to win by domination.

EDIT: What tiles do count to my land area? I assume that ocen and ice tiles do not. But what about lakes and peaks?

Pretty impressive stuff you are walking this.

Beware Monty has a vassel and won't cap until the vassel is free.

Overall cavalry vs longbow should be a walk in the park. 2 stacks of 15 and take as many cities as possible till China is free.

No Ai appears to have gunpowder.

You might consider frigates?? reduce defences by 8% a turn? Also protect your galleons. The Ai will know exactly where your ships are.

Overall slider to 100% and pump out units and lots of sea units and win game soon.

There's is not much more advice you need to win. get on and play. Spies for monty??? You set Ep on him for a reason i hope!!

Rifles/cavalry/ frigates should do the job here.

^^ monty has 2 vassals and I almost think Willem peacevassaled for culture win (can't check the save yet).

Anyway great job on the Gilga war and I think if you make your move against Monty now (he should have a bit depleted troops) the game is in the bag.

btw you could think about giving stalin some obsolete tech to give Monty some nightmare... it should be basically now 3:1 so you don't risk Stalin giving techs to willem/mao/monty

I will probably build frigates only later in the newest coastal cities. At this moment, Monty has only triremes. And I also don't plan to use spies anymore. Before the last round, I expected that the research of Rifling will be very slow and that I will have time for frigates/spies. But now, building them would only delay the war.

Monty has only one vassal and that's China. And it is a peacevassal. In the last round, China became a free state for 1 turn and then piacevassalled again

EDIT: I don't understand your last sentence. What do you mean by 3:1?

I played a shadow of this game and Gilgamesh had grenadiers around the year that you attacked in your game. It made my war take a lot longer and I ended up having to run him over using cavalry. Still, nicely done. Looks like you just have to bring this game home now!

I think Monty did get forced peace with Stalin, but was forced to re-declare because of the AP -- probably a holy war against Stalin.

for whatever reason I thought that Willem joined the club vassaling to Monty together with Mao...

Well, you basically are some missionaries and one vassal away of a win :D

I sugest the Dutch for the first target out there if he doesn't vassal in between your rebuild.

BTW I don't think you need astro for now, since you have the collosus. i would go the PP line, to be honest, now that you a good bunch of matured cottages down there.
