The IOT forum + NES museum forum, cool thanks for the gesture guys I always wanted a place where people could just walk in, see all the cool stuff we've done over the years, and then go to a link that takes them to the NESing forum.

Today NESIOT has emerged, prepared to serve as a union of many! I hope to work with my fellow NESIOTs towards this newly baptist community of forum gaming. May our works like Forsaken Ruins be experiences of joy for us all. Change is in the wind.

Corrected viva la Final Star! :p

I am happy to be both a NESIOTer and a STGer.

To be honest, I would rather have this not happen, not right now. I think I stated somewhere in the thread that my opinion regarding the issue had change since I voted.

Still waiting for someone to give me a satisfactory answer as to why this would be an improvement over the status quo.

No, "something something increased traffic" does not constitute a satisfactory answer.

Well, the time has arrived and the poll is now closing. As you can see, the results above are over 62% in favor of the merger without any alternations or considerations. Over the past two weeks, numerous issues have been brought up here and elsewhere and for a time it seemed like our communities were close to sundering ever further rather than growing closer. There were more than a couple of nights where I regretted ever posting this poll and thread for the discussions that ensued.

Now that we are at the end of the poll, I believe that if anything, the disputes have brought all of us a bit closer together as a community. I have learned more about other NESers and IOTers in the past two weeks than I had ever knew before, and I am convinced that we are more alike than we are different. Based on the sentiments expressed by a number of people throughout these discussions as well as the raw results of the poll data the moderator staff agrees that the merger go forward in the next few weeks.

The process is not going to be painless and I look forward to the animated discussions that will likely emerge between and within the communities. We as a combined community have many details to discuss on the look and layout of the newly merged subforum. These changes will not take place based on polls or majority versus minority, but over time through experimentation and debate.

Let us go forward together. ;)

I'm fully prepared to productively manage this transition, though I am deeply uncomfortable with the way in which it was managed.

Based on the personal data I have collected, and based on the results in this poll, it does not look like a large majority of individuals in the NES community are in favor of the merge. You promised to break down the vote by community and as far as I am concerned you have broken that promise.

You also said you would not force a merge if large majorities from each forum did not approve the change. As far as I am concerned you have broken that promise as well, since the majority is carried by the IOT vote.

Since the majority in the PDMA thread is far larger than the majority for the merge, are the moderators going to take action on that as well?

the only people who really really care about the merger occurring in this fashion right this minute are a few ioters who want to stick it to luckymoose

Like, I know we're all a bunch of drama queens, by why create this drama in the first place?

I look forward to co-operation.

On promises: I remember the counting AA did which say that a only over 20ish (cannot remember exact figure) of the voters played IOT. We will need to do a new counter (especially since the changes to no votes were among IOTers, not NESers) but will be interesting. Overall a high number of yeses came from NES, as well as from a high proportion of those who had dual citizenship as it were of IOT and NES. Whatever the case this merge will be to the will of the electorate here.

I thought Bird was on progression about possible PDMA progress. There was the fault of the first experiment but one does not make a theory with one test so there are plenty of chances for more tests.

Everything is not about Lucky, though hostility was one of the evidences of a "us vs them" mentality which was a motivator.

A high number of people, IOTers and NESers, cared enough to vote yes.

Except that the few IOTers that don't really like Lucky don't want the merger. Most of us are impartial to him nowadays.

In any case, now that the decision has been made, it's best to discuss the how rather than the what. That was the plan AFAIK.

The way in which CFC Staff Forum politics operates is so disingenuous. It's immensely frustrating. Democratic majorities only matter when they agree with what the mods opinions are to begin with.

As far as I can tell, about 30 NESers participated in the poll, and the vote is approximately 15-15. I used a fairly vague definition of NESer to include some IOTers who have participated in NES too.

Not exactly what we were promised, EQ. Seems a lot like railroading if you ask me.

Is that including people like Sam, christos, and Joan who have since changed their votes to no?

No, that skews it even further towards no. I'm just counting based on what the poll says.

The disreputable nature of how this was conducted, with ALL of the mods in this thread actively or passively supporting the merge, has removed any veneer of neutrality from it. They have been pushing this since Day 1.

Added to the fact that the mods blatantly lied about not ramming this through over the objections of our community, and you have one truly biased poll with biased mods.

Moderator Action: Edit: 3 pointer for major flaming and trolling reduced to 1 pointer for trolling and flaming.

The initial count did not take into effect the vote changes, though it should have. That was an oversight by myself made in haste, and you can expect a new post explaining what, if any, difference this will make in a couple of hours. Thank you for calling that to my attention.

Nothing. But when all the mods happen to have the same opinion, surprise surprise, they end up manipulating data to support that opinion!

But to what end? How would the sinister Mods win by forcefully merging IOT & NES? And even hold a vote.

I look forward to co-operation.

No you don't, that much is clear. We have the post logs, people aren't stupid.

You don't know what you're talking about.

If you are on about the posts about limiting the flame wars of "us vs them" then how does that stop me from looking forward to co-operation? I am generally looking forward to the possible co-operations from the merge.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Now now what with this aggression? All who disagree with you must not know what they are talking about? That all this is a conspiracy against a certain figure? All I know that the flaming from certain elements does not contribute to games but rather hinders community, making pointless bickering. NESIOT would aid in lessening that bickering.
