NES/IOT Merger Poll

Should IOT and NES be merged?

So considering changed votes the merger is significantly less than 2/3rds majority yet you want to push through anyway? Typical.

Now now what with this aggression? All who disagree with you must not know what they are talking about? That all this is a conspiracy against a certain figure? All I know that the flaming from certain elements does not contribute to games but rather hinders community, making pointless bickering. NESIOT would aid in lessening that bickering.

You speak for no one on either side. That much as has been made clear by everyone.

I had to wait until I got home from work to do this. I'm defining "NESer" as "Someone who has played in a NES on CFC or the Frontier in the past 4 months, or who is known to have played in NESes in the more past." Trying to keep it as broad as possible. Also, I know almost everyone in this community so I'm a pretty good judge of who is and who isn't a NESer.

I am including some people who are primarily IOTers in this poll, because they've participated in NES.

Yes: <nuke>, Arrow Gamer, Defacto, EQandcivfanatic, J.K. Stockholme, Justo, KaiserElectric, LordIggy, Immaculate, Ophorian, Patchy, Polyblank, Robert Can't, Seon, SouthernKing, The LastJacobite, TheMeanestGuest, thomas.berubeg

No: Angst, Azale, Blaze_Injun, bombshoo, ChiefDesigner, Communisto, erez87, Lord Herobrine, Luckymoose, North King, Omega124, OwenGlyndwr, spryllino, talonschild, Thlayli, christos*, Johanna*

If someone feels like they're a NESer and deserve to be counted here, or has changed their vote, let me know. But based on this, the count from within the NESer community is 18 for and 17 against. The vote is essentially tied.

If you ever thought this would go any way other than mod railroading of our communities, you were fools. I tried to warn you.

I think there is also a noteworthy number of NESers that have not posted in this thread that are fine with either choice. It's not exactly a vote for yes or no, but I do think it is something to be considered.

Also, I do think that the vote changes happened mostly because of the acrimony on display in the thread, Their changes should be counted sure, but are they voting no because it's in the best interest in the community, or because they were negatively influenced by some posts?

You forgot to mention (for yes) Patchy, Immaculate and J.K. Stockholme.

O really? You speak for all?

This aggression is getting to no direction. And what with sides? Merger and anti-merger? I do not speak for something I am a member of?

I never claimed to speak for all, or any side. I speak for myself and I am correct.

Still waiting for someone to give me a satisfactory answer as to why this would be an improvement over the status quo.

No, "something something increased traffic" does not constitute a satisfactory answer.

Out of curiosity, what would constitute a satisfactory answer?

Any argument that would prove demonstrably that a merger is something that would benefit the community. Increased traffic is not a satisfactory answer because nobody has given a convincing argument that mergers increase traffic. Just some vagaries about people too lazy or too proud to make a couple extra clicks. It could just as easily drive away NESers/IOTers unhappy with the merger, leading to a decrease in traffic. NK and ChiefDesigner have already wiped their hands of CFC NES over this, and Luckymoose seems more likely to do so as well with every passing day. It just doesn't make any sense to me at this point, when we're finally bringing people back from the brink to totally upend everything and alienate longtime contributors for essentially no benefit (or no benefit that has yet been demonstrated).

Neither do I speak for all.

We both see ourselves correct on the merge issue. We both were not amused with the Savage affair and both would like to see some new PDMA policy. We do not share the same strategy nor the same opinion regarding the merge; that is fine. What is not fine is a needless hostility.

Can we please agree to disagree?

ChiefDesigner has actually been very active in IOT in these past 2 weeks as a point of clarity. And I think though we have lost 1-2 NESers, we are seeing more IOTers and more NESers trying out one another's hobbies.

Exactly. Crossover is happening without the merger. So why are we merging again?

Because, sweet little child, change is always good! Never question anything. Never try to protect anything. The only sane option is to clearly force two different groups into one group, destroying what both hold as their own unique identities, without even asking the two groups if that's okay by them. Why would that be bad or alienate players? It isn't like any of this is serious, right? Right?

Better yet, let's just delete NESing cause it isn't Civ related! That's a good one, too!

Poll is there, literally asking if this is ok with us.

How will NESIOT destroy both NES and IOT? The issue is "us vs them" or the bickering that is caused by petty subforum "nationalisms." Pretend that we of the merge are trying to destroy your hobby but the fact is the merging is not going to take away your hobby. The two groups have been asked.

NES will not be deleted. IOT will not be deleted. The notion that there is such plans to delete is simply a crazed conspiracy theory.

I base my understanding of your threats entirely on your posts and the language you've repeatedly used. This is not a poll about how to handle the merger, it is simply asking if a merger would be acceptable. The problem is people voted without thinking what it means to either side, and the staff doesn't give a damn about us or our hobby.

The mods are doing what the community wants rather than what you want?????
must be a conspiracy.

The staff asking our opinion on something, and going ahead with it even when there's no clear consensus? SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE

The staff ignoring >42% of the community dissenting to their actions when they claimed they wouldn't go through without overwhelming support. You shouldn't be so easy to trust them, nor claim I'm the only one fighting how this is handled.

I always been vocal about any majority being able to carry the action, or else you are just letting a minority decide the outcome anyway. This is hardly unreasonable, the Scottish independence only required over 50%, the same with most referendums.

Like it or not, the majority of people voted for the merge, even if you take out people who only play IOTs.
