NESLife attempt #3

lurker's comment: Genera, dammit. :p

I always assumed they were families and that everyone ELSE thought they were species: Spongita Terranova, Velenus Primus, and so on.

Yes. I assume that the creatures we are working with are genii.

I always have assumed that they're genuses. So nyah. Yeah, it doesn't make much sense if the world only had a hundred or so species.

That works for me, I like to think of these 'species' as actually just one example of a whole group of related species.

PS, work is going slowly (as I posted in DaftNES thread :( ). This is a pre-pre-preview:

So I have competition for control of the Gorgaths. I didn't realise.

Good point.

Regarding the low number of species, after reading through some of the thread, it seems as though people are discovering fossils, rather than the creatures being alive today.

Because only a small number of creatures are fossilized, it's feasible that only a small number of creatures have actually been found. there would still be many more, but these are the species we've found.

The trouble with that theory is that Daftpanzer presumably does not factor for such species in the updates.

EDIT: How long until the pre-preview?

There is many many creatures ~ download the file to see them all. Just a lot are not evolving.

A smaller world would mean less gravity. That could be accomodated, but presumably Daftpanzer has not factored for it so far.
