Not true. The war in 1801 was not just a war. It had strong ties with the England-France conflict. The commercialist Danes insisted on trading with whom they wanted and claimed neutrality. Due to the War the English insisted on inspecting ships from neutral countries to avoid them transporting goods that could be used in the war against them. This caused a direct conflict between English and Danish interests which again resulted in a major crisis. The Danish king instructed the ships to defend themselves against inspection and in the summer of 1800 the frigate Freya escorted a Danish convoy and resisted inspection. Despite outnumbered the frigate attacked the English warships and was defeated.
In response the Danes signed a mutual defence pact with Russia knowned as the armed neutrality pact. They also pulled Preussia and Sweden into it. Now, the Russian Czar was also grandmaster of Malta which was occupied by the British. The next step was Russia and France ageeing to close all ports on the continent against the Bristish. This meant that the Danes were in a lot of trouble as they relied on trading. The Danish fleet was strong enough to be a threat to the English and England immediately demanded the Danes pull out of the pact. If Denmark did this it would mean war with Russia, Preussia and Sweden. The result of this would be the Swedes occupying Norway and Preussia invading Jutland. In short. Denmark would cease to exist. If the Danes fought the English they might have a hope so they chose that avenue. The English despatched a fleet under Lord Parker and Lord Nelson. The Danish fleet was not ready for battle and the Swedes and Russian wouldn't (the Swedes) and and couldn't (Russia - ice) help them so a ragtag crew was sent aboard the Danish ships. They fought valiantly, but had no chance against the superiour English crews. In the end Denmark survived as a nation.

So, the truth is a little more complex than you make it, BUT if Denmark had allowed the English to inspect the ships it never would have happened.

I have said something about "nordic people" civilization in Swedish civ -thread.
I think giving all nordic countries invidual mod is little bit too much...

Of course everybody can do what ever they like but really...if you add something like dane civilization when there isn't even mongols or incas present...

Thanks. Boot-problem? If you mean the crashing when you visit the Foreign Advisor screen, then there is no fix for that

Is this mod compatible with the new patch?

Is the diplomacy screen crash still there?

I would like to use it, but have not installed it because of the Diplomacy screen crash. I also got it as an exe file, not a zip, and I am reluctant to install it as I have no idea what it will do to my installation and how easy it is to uninstall. I much prefer getting it in a zip file.

I am sorry, but for now, the DanishCiv is not compatible with the new 1.17f.
DanishCiv 1.5 (which WILL be) will soon be released to celebrate the hosting at www.modworld.dk, but if they dont soon get theire servers going, i will release it before.



Sir Martin -> Please write in English! Most others dont get a word of what you say. But no, i wont replace Christan with a Viking leader, nor the special unit with a Longboat or so...
Why? Simply because this i a DANISHciv and not a vikingciv.
They are two different nations...

BTW, its wrong. Scandinavia is Denmark, Norway and Sweden. NO ONE ELSE!
Its the nordic countries you just mentioned there, except Greenland which isnt... but if you think of it as a part of Denmark maybe it is.
