New NESes, ideas, development, etc

Don't forget Krutargg raiders ;)

Can't forget the Krutargg raiders!

A key point would be to the maintain ports and portages for income, or making alliances to do so. Tunneling would be a viable tactic.

Unfortunately, only Merc, me and Eltain would be definitely interested, and I'm top-hat deep in TerraNES alerady.

I would be willing to do this and update around TerraNES' schedule, Terrance. (I too am strapped for time until I get a solid work schedule ironed out. New job which I am truly thankful for, though.) I think I could allow the results to be canon too. I'd god-mod a little and disallow Swiech Issith or Krutargg for a few centuries (trurns) though and have pre-determined disasters and certain other events. I'm going to have to brush up on my history too.

Merciary, you (and anyone else who wants to participate) in?

I was just thinking how I wanted to have world-building minigames like yours, Terrance.

I thought up lots of miniNESes or spinoffs from my NES. Such as a Keltia Generals MiniNES, a Valyrian Generals MiniNES, a Levean City-states MiniNES and a Ctesiphod Republic MinNES. ;)

Minigames are cool, although an actual GAME minigame is interesting.

I'd join.

At least, I think I would.

I'm not really sure what the whole concept is... I mean, are we talking about the randomly generated map Terrance was talking about? Or something else?

But I'd probably join.

Well, we were talking about that.

Then we were talking about this one pre-NES map Eltain made. Zanomar is basically Niagra Falls into the Chesapeake with tunnels all over, under, and through the rock. It is a massive city with dozens of gangs, clans, and thugs all trying to control the ports above and below the falls, and the portages to carry goods in between. Talking about how awesome a NES based on that would be.

Then we were talking about miniNESes and miniGames in general.

What Terrance said, Arrow. I just posted in said thread if you're interested in checking it out. It's not really a good read if you go page by page, though. I can answer any questions you may have if it'll help.

For the minigame:

Layers:
From top to bottom:
1: surface. includes river and any proper human settlements.
2: subterr. cannot dig directly below river.
3. subterr. SHIPWRECK FALLS MOFO
4: subter. SHIPWRECK FALLS MOFO
5: subter. SHIPWRECK FALLS MOFO
6: subter. SEA LEVEL. (ships can dock in caverns adjacent to ocean on this level. Ocean surges will fudge you up.) SHIPWRECK FALLS MOFO
7: subter. Also contains millions of gallons of water.
8: subter. cannot dig habitable caverns directly below the ocean.

All caverns adjacent to "cliff face" can theoretically be open to the elements if they are dug as such.

Player-known timeline during the game:
Swiech colonies. Swiech in-fighting.
Human immigrants become possible.
Issith immigrants become possible.
Krutargg raiders and possibly immigrants become possible.

.....WHO KNOWS?

FYI we can and will do this for any settlement requested (one at a time and by popular vote if applicable, sorry) and it -will- be canonical maps for the settlements at the start of the game.

Cool. Don't make it too complicated. Everyone uses the same basic "stats" and race differences are shown with roleplaying and maybe minor stuff.

So Issith Queen-Mother=Issith Drone Thug (independent Male)=Swiech Warlord=Human Chief as leaders.

Would you mind editing that into the Eltnes post you made Terrance?

Link to minigame rules

It's not entirely self-explanatory, I know. What this is, is a minigame that we will be playing to plan the city of Dhah-Zanomar from my under-construction NES world, This World is Yours. Descriptions of Swiech, Issith, Krutarg and the appropriate human factions will be available when they are needed in phase 2.

[Suffice it to say, Swiech are gold-worshipping Rat people, Issith are Lizardfolk ruled by an absolutely powerful Den Mother, Krutargg are a mineral-consuming race of sapiens that absorb the properties therein, etc.]

What it is:

phase 1: RNG earn points, build a massive underground tunnel system at what is essentially Niagara falls! The falls have dozens of wrecked wheat barges crashed at the bottom, giving for dangerous fun for children and massive algae pools for cultivation, also a cool gimmick.

phase 2: Buy soldiers, protect your interests, fight for control of the tunnel-city!

Hi all.

I'm thinking of making a zombie apocalaypse based NES. However, I can't exactly choose how to run it.

Should it be towards the end of the outbreak, so zombies wander around the countryside and you rule your own city-state, trying to survive? In that there would be trade, infestations and such.

Should it be where the players take different parts in city-government and try to deal with the outbreaks?

Should it be a survival, personal NES?

Should the player take control of a rogue military unit?

Should it be a combination of some of the kinds listed above?

Should the player be an intelligent zombie, leading packs of other zombies?

As you can see, I have a lot of ideas. Any feed-back would be great.

Alright, so, once again rattling off a few ideas:

As always, the possibility of a reboot of Core. For those unaware of what Core was, it was a strictly RP-based NES where players took the roles of citizens of a rather dystopian city. No electricity or fuel, organized crime, little food, few weapons, and absolutely no way to leave the city.

On the other hand, I've got a few more ideas floating around (all character and RP based, generally floating off of more of a survival/dystopian slant than a political one).

One is "In Transit" (Working title. I know it's awful). Long story short, players take on the roles of colonists to alternate worlds, with a select handful of players being the "Transits", people with the ability to back and forth between these worlds.

Actually, I have about a dozen variants on this concept of settling on an alternate world....

Anyways, moving on from that, there's the possibility of a sort of mystery-esque game focused around a high-profile wilderness search-and-rescue mission. Players would play members of the rescue team.

Keeping in mind that there is no map available for any of these, and locations will be described strictly through text, which of the three sounds the most interesting?

Honestly, I wouldn't join this NES.

It is too limited: you must be a soldier. No merchants, diplomats or spies. No actions as a 'nobleman.' No flexibility.

I'm not trying to be mean, just trying to make the NES better.

Also, some feat ideas:
Cruel: Kills people who have surrendered
Effect: Lowers morale of enemies, but they will also never surrender.

Tactitian: uses tactics to best the enemey
Effect: Stronger forces while outnumbered

Defender/Attacker: Obvious

Religious: Raises morale of your troops but makes other-religion countries dislike you. Also gives you more influence in the Christian world.

I would definitely play one if it was character-centred. All the ideas have merit though.

A character-focused one may be awesome.

If you had mechants, diplomats, or spies I would totally join :)

I must be part Jewish because I loveee money, merchant is my favorite role :)

It would be cool.

But I just don't k ow how I would run it. I want to stay away from the dexterity, strength, charisma, etc, a d allow for a more customizable character.

My idea template would be:

Name:
Physical Description:
Brief Bio:
Family: Could add direction to the story
Companions: Can be as many as you want as long as there are a good ratio of strong to weak people
Equipment: Haven't decided how to regulate this yet
Weapons: See equipment
Skills: Could be something like bomb technician of survivalist. Effects your weapons and equipment
Location: Anywhere in America. Can also be places like off-shore boats.
Trying to get to: Anywhere else in America.

I'm thinking that people could also be in cities, helping defend. Or even be part of the Clean Anerica (West of the Rockies).

Note: Much of the history will be from the book World War Z.
