NHL CFC Playoffs Pool III

I'll wait 'til everything's decided.

The game begins now... so much for studying for my math midterm. :p

the Don has decided its over. At least what Im hearing him say. and I did no IF this happens... for a reason. I know what will :p

On behalf of all Montrealers, I would like to extend thanks to the Canucks for kicking captain Jackass (Ribeiro, that is) out of the playoffs.

No problem Oda.

I think the Stars outplayed Vancouver, but the Canucks pulled it through when it counted.

I didn't get to see the game, but it looks like Vancouver made a big improvement over how they did in game 6.

Here are my picks for round 2.

East
Buffalo 3 vs. NY Rangers 4
New Jersey 2 vs. Ottawa 4

West
Detroit 1 vs. San Jose 4
Anaheim 4 vs. Vancouver 2

Here are the results for Round 1 for anyone wanting to quickly check their scores.
East
Buffalo in 5 games.
New Jersey in 6
NY Rangers won in 4
Ottawa in 5 games.

West
Detroit won in 6
Anaheim in 5
Vancouver in 7
San Jose in 5

ok here we go again

Code:
Buffalo 3 - [B]Rangers[/B] 4 (Rangers in 7)
Devils 3 - [B]Ottawa[/B] 4 (Ottawa in 7)

[B]Detroit[/B] 4 - Sharks 2 (Detroit in 6)
[B]Anaheim[/B] 4 - Canucks 1 (Anaheim in 5)

Time for round two and the silly rationalization of my picks.

Buffalo vs. New York

One thing Shanahan brings is leadership. Sounds like a weak explanationan and an abstract concept, but his presence alone makes this team better. Sean Avery looks like another Darcy Tucker these days partly because of him. Jagr has to work harder with a veteran like him in the room. Nylander and Lunqvist have also stepped it up in the first round. But Buffalo is a better team. Miller is as good as Lunqvist, if not better. Like I said before, their depht is just crazy.

Sabres in 6

New Jersey vs. Ottawa

Still hate Lamoriello. Still hate Devils hockey.
That being said, they are a tremendous hockey machine. Their roster is as deep as Buffalo's, but more in their style (Madden, Pandolfo, Brylin, Dowd). Their first line (Elias-Gomez-Gionta) has been doing very well. Parise is the leading goal scorer with six. Langenbrunner is a seasonned playoff performer. Brodeur is, you know, Brodeur. I hate the team, but I think there's not one player I wouldn't take on my own team. Ottawa is really good. Not sure I need to explain why. Their support from other players than their stars has been great. Fisher, Neil, Vermette, Kelly, Schaefer. Plus their d is amazing and Emery is solid.

Devils in 7

Detroit vs. San Jose

I'm still waiting for Thornton to choke. I'm also not a fan of Craig Rivet and after his twelve years in Habsville, I don't understand how is it that he plays so many minutes in San Jose and spends all that time on the powerplay. Something's not right. And San Jose's d will be great in the years to come, but as of now guys like Carle, Ehrohoff and Vlasic and too inexperienced in the playoffs. It's not going to be easy for the Wings, but now that Datsyuk and Zetterberg have shaken their playoffs jinx, that Bertuzzi is coming alive, that Holmstrom (like Langenbrunner in NJ) is on, that guys like Maltby and Draper are still around, they'll be tough to beat. Chelios is fukcing amazing.

Red Wings in 7

Anaheim vs. Vancouver

Biggest mismatch of the second round. Vancouver has no business being there. Luongo is great, but not that great. And the Ducks have two goaltenders who can do the job.

Ducks in 5

Ottawa in 7 games over NJ
Buffalo in 7 games over NYR

Detroit in 6 games over San Jose
Anaheim in 5 games over Vancover

Sorry Mr Boily but I do beleive that Ottawa is a better pick. The Devils did not impress me one bit against the lightning. The only two scorers in the lightning were Lecavalier and St-Louis, ottawa has a lot more depth than them and might give Marty, freaking, Brodeur a run for his money.

Mine

Code:
[B]Buffalo 4[/B] - Rangers 2 (Buffalo in 6)
Devils 2 - [B]Ottawa[/B] 4 (Ottawa in 6)

Detroit 3 - [B]Sharks 4[/B] (San Jose in 7)
[B]Anaheim[/B] 4 - Canucks 0 (Anaheim in 4)

I'm going:

Buffalo over NYRangers 4-2
Ottawa over NJDevils 4-3

SJSharks over Detroit 4-3
Anaheim over Vancouver 4-2

:dunno: :run:

I think it is fairly obvious that NYR are going to take out Buffalo in 5 games.

It must be due to CFC being left-wing.
