None Shall Pass [Game Thread - Concluded]

Not to sound crass, but we could also lynch him. It saves you needing to be replaced and its gets us away from the current candidates.

Since we're on the 'who is who and what are they doing?' topic, I'll throw my two cents into the ring. Judging by the colors of each faction and the writeup, I suspect the following:

Palpatine is written in the same color as the Star Wars cult, pointing to me that he's a Cult player. His attack left someone injured, the same color as a LoTR townie. If that is intentional and not a coincidence, it's possible someone on the LoTR town side inadvertently revealed him/herself as LoTR to Palpatine or someone who knows Palpatine and thus, was attacked. Or Palpatine got lucky, that's possible too. Whoever revealed their LoTR role to other players before night one should come forward, either privately or publicly, as it may point to who Palpatine is or who else is working with Palpatine. That is, if you agree with my reasoning above.

Aragorn is typed up in the same color as the LotR town, as is Legolas. Speculation: both are LotR town, pointing to a conversion attempt by the LoTR Cultists since we see no evidence of an action by them in the writeup. In conclusion:

Star Wars Cult attacked a player, possibly LoTR town.
Star Wars town Vigilante did not attack.
LoTR vig and Doctor both make an appearance.
LoTR cultists were either inactive or attempted a conversion.

A list of links to updates would be quite handy. Using the Who's posted? can be troublesome when the GM's constantly posting snippets.

It's already underneath huge purple letters saying "Important Links"...

I feel like someone says this every game I host, and every time I have to say "look at the front page I have been doing this the whole time".

Yes, but you could add it to every update ;).

Well if I don't have to really read the 10+ pages I guess I can make an attempt to stay in.

In that case, I will vote: Atpg in lack of a better candidate
So you've accepted Visor's proposition?

Hey.

Guys.

There's over a day remaining.

There's no need to panic or form the save pizza wagon now.

Do you guys REALLY think Gone 3 the Celts is scum?

If not, why pile onto him? We have time.

Discuss.

The Gone3TheCelt lynch is dumb. The ATPG lynch is dumb. Neither helps find cultists. Instead:
Also I've just been informed that cult susceptibility scanner guy didn't out himself. That makes the whole situation make a lot more sense to me.

Not sure if that's better or worse for the guy. Thinking better, because that means a blunder was not committed. But then again, wouldn't both cults need such a scanner?

The role is 50/50 town or cult. I could go public with it, but it's such a horrendous loss for the town side if he's town.

I'll take a 50-50 stab over the above two candidates. I think ATPG needs to reveal the identity of this Cult susceptibility scanner. Here's my thoughts on this:

  • If he's a town role, I don't see the use for him. Sure he can scan whether they can be converted or not (assuming I'm interpreting this right, please confirm), but what does that actually accomplish? Scanner scans player 'a' and finds him convertible. Then what? Wouldn't the scanner be wondering the rest of the game if player 'a' has been converted or not? Is there a follow-up action to reverse the possibility? As a town role, it seems a lot like a sentence with no punctuation. What's the end result?
  • The role makes perfect sense for a Cult team. In a game where each Cult team has a smaller pool of candidates for conversion (assuming SW Cult can only convert SW townies and vice-versa), you'd need a role like this. Otherwise, killing is way more effective and lucrative for the Cultist's side. I had such an ability in Road to Ruin to help balance out the uncertainty of gaining a player to the certainty of killing one. If Cult, this would severely hamper their conversion abilities.
  • lynching this player would reveal quite a bit about setup. If townie, it would point to the other side having such a role as well. If Cult, it would confirm whether or not Cultists can kill and convert (if flips SW Cult) or if they can only do one action (flip LoTR Cult).
In short, lynching this player would reveal way more on day 2 than we would otherwise gather. I hope ATPG reveals so we can lynch someone and have something way more productive than what we've had thus far.

I don't think we should lynch you, but lynching Gone 3 the Celt is also a stupid thing to do. He always votes for himself, how many times does that need to be said?

@Backwards Logic

Let's put it to a vote.

The folks that actually seem to have given two turds as to what happens today (more than one post) get a say in what happens next. Since I don't really care what non-participants think at all.

Give susceptibility scanner more time is my actual vote. It might be a dumb move, but my rationale is that he's not going anywhere, and I want to know what the results are.

That's probably really crappy reasoning. Nevertheless, that's why I haven't outed him yet.

There also is at least one known doctor, so outing the role isn't 100 percent equal to a death sentence.

But I REALLY understand the desire to lynch a cultist right now. It would make all this flailing and gnashing of teeth actually turn into not wasted effort.

So I'm willing to listen to the group consensus.

Yeah, this whole round has been pretty lol-worthy in terms of reasons for votes.

But it is Day Two, and Day one was the usual CFC wasted first round, we are now back on round one again since we didn't lynch anyone and no one died.

Slightly better because there's some visual data we can process.

But I consider this Day One again, so the vote rationale is going to be pretty bad.

I'm suggesting outing the role to flat-out lynch him (count that as my vote ;) ). Revealing him then not lynching him doesn't do a whole lot. I understand the reasoning for giving him a shot to explain himself (personally I don't see it, but do what you must), but I don't see what revealing him then not lynching him does, other than burning the doctor on a guy who could still be Cult after all explaining is said and done.

You're a man after my own heart.

Nobody typically agrees with my "screw the detectives" philosophy. I'm holding back and playing defense for this guy because I'm expected to do that as a townie. Those who boldly wish to set him on fire and never look back, damn the consequences, have the kind of fire inside of them that I admire in a mafia game.

Very forceful, and quite persuasive. I like it.
