PH02: Eight Angry Men

If you wait much longer now, lobster, Ghengis will definately steal that city spot.

yeah, Lobster ~ have you "got it" ??

Sorry. I got it last night, but had to run my SGOTM1 turns first. By the time I had finished, I was too tired to play. If Munterpipe plays today, I should be able to play tonight.

Alexander the Virgin Emperor and Munterpipe the Emperor virgin was asked to lead the greek empire to greatness.
Let's see what could be done during these 20 turns.

The archer is done, and I start another one. I try to time the archer to be done the same time as the city grows to size 4.

I met these two handsome bastards.

and look at this...

11: Perfect timing. BW comes in, archer done, Athens grows to size 4 and we revolt to Slavery. Now let's see if we have some copper...

There is some west, by ghengis' lands, will be tough to get to that before the Khan.

And to our east there is some as well...

Ouch! Bismarck has gotten up his first city allready.

12: Both Hinduism and Buddism is now fidal. And incoming barbs have been spotted. I don't think archery first was such a bad idea.

After BW I'm torn between Mysticism and Animal Husbandry, which leads to writing.
Sparta is worth nothing without a borderpop, and we need an obelisk or a library for that.
I land on mysticism.

Barbs attack!

15: Our Cityguard archer kills off the first wave and is promoted to Garrison 1.

17: Our Escort Archer is hurt after an encounter with a barb archer. There are a lot of them around!

20: The settler is ready to be popped next turn. We have a wounded archer for escort and I think sending our warrior to Sparta as well will be wise.
The Archer in Athens can hold out for now.
Mysticism will come in next turn, and I think AH next will be best.
Let's get some more archers out before ordering the worker though. Those barbs come in numbers.
Bismarck got Buddhism and Monty is the Hindu. The German city to our east has popped it's borders, so it's probably the Buddhist holy city. It might be our only chance at getting copper, so a strike at that city might prove worthwhile, even if we need a LOT of archers and chariots(?) to take it down.

OK. I downloaded the save and will play later tonight. Top priority, obviously, will be to settle Sparta, and crank out a couple more Archers.

good turns, Munter ~ love the color scheme

it looks like we may be able settle on that grass hill btwn the copper and the other 2 silks perhaps...it has access to the river, so food wont be a problem.

Agree. I believe the settler can be whipped on your first turn.
The important thing here will be how to balance our expansion with enough millitary, and getting Sparta going as our commersial powerhouse. We want to assign some scientists sometime to get ourself an academy there as well.

If we can't get that western copper before the AI, we will either need to find us some iron, or steal a copper city from our neighbors. If that german city turns out to be the Buddistic holy city, (I think it is, because of the fast border pop,) we will want to take it sooner or later anyway.

 It's civscale. I'll get you a new color for my next turnset.
That looks like a nice spot, yes. Hopefully we will get there first.

Just a something to think about for later, (if we haven't yet lost.:crazyeye: ) When we get to civil service, and the beurocracy civic, how about building our palace in Sparta for the extra :commerce: +50%.
Things have probably changed by then, but that would be a slick move, wouldn't it? Advanced city specialization.

What IS a Munterpipe??
Well, munter in is Norwegian and translates to something like merry or cheerie or jaunty. And a pipe is a pipe. Either you smoke it or you play it;)

OFF TOPIC, LURKER, OFF THREAD, ETC.

Fox, we should move the palace in our hippy game so that Demascus and Medina can catch up to Mecca.

I'm with the Fox on this ~ i've never really moved the palace, but that would be a sweet little manuever.

so...munterpipe=merry pipe=:smoke:, yes?

Well, not really. I came up with the name in a school essay a long time ago, and it has sort of stayed since.

And I've never moved the palace either!

Once again, real life forced me to delay my turns. I'll play tonight for sure.

If the settler only costs two pop, then I'll whip it. Should we repeat (i.e. build Archers or Chariots (if we have access to Horses with AH) until the population hits 4,then whip another Settler) if it looks like we have a shot at the copper in the west?

No problem, Lobster ~ I would say that looks good as a plan. but we can't build chariots no matter what b/c we've got no one to hook them up!

also, it may be unpopular, but i think that founding a city near copper for our UU ASAP is needed, so we *may* want to think about delaying a worker...at least out of Athens...we could whip them from Sparta with all those 3f flood plain tiles to work.

get some copper on line, whip out some Phalanxes and axes and move out!

You're right guys. That worker might make the difference between us getting that copper or not, and that is very important
