Pizza

You forgot the sauce.

:trophy2nd:

It's called a tavern cut. Its actually really good. It works because the crust is so thin and crispy. It wouldn't work very well with regular pizza dough.

Hmm it just seems that if you cut a spherical pizza into squares, you're gonna get some crappy slices. It happened to me once or twice where a place cut a pizza like that, and it was never a fun time. That's why I'm questioning that design decision so much, but maybe as you say the crust makes it all work. I should go to St. Louis I guess and just see what they're cooking

You can get crappy slices with regular cuts as well. Plus the people who make them cut dozens a day so they're well practiced in not sucking. It makes for an interesting eating experience because you get to choose a middle piece or an outside. There is no real crust on the outside, the cheese just kind of ends at the edge and you can really taste the sauce.

Imos pizza is worth a trip to St. Louis.

Do that and the arch.

Let me know if you go and I'll send you a list of some cool outdoorsie stuff to do in the area. I can show you bluffs carved out of ancient sea bed with fossil corals older than the concept of god. I can show you a tomb carved out of marble brought from Egypt in the 1700s where the brother of either Lewis or Clark is buried.

There is a ton of good hiking out there. I miss that

You only miss it because you haven't taken me up on my offer and seen what's available here.

@Takhisis I love me some anchovies and Canadian bacon/ham on a pizza. Especially the way Papa John's does their ham in thin strips. Mmm
I've never been to Papa John's but maybe one day I will.
My point is that it looks like the wind blew yard debris onto a slice of flat bread - not appetizing at all.
It is appetising once you've learned to identify it as food.

They have a decent loyalty program for online customers. You get points with each order and can redeem them on future orders. When you accumulate 25 points, you can redeem them for a large pizza (not the gourmet ones, unfortunately).

Somehow, I can't see those leaves as anything I would want to eat.

Rocket is a pretty bad plant

Very thin, crispy crust.
Sweet tomatoes sauce.
Provel cheese (not provelone).
Tavern cut.

People either love it or hate it, mostly because of the distinctive cheese.

Our son-in-law is from St. Louis and he and our daughter live there. we visit a couple of times a year. He treats us to Imo's almost every visit. It's not real pizza. Too thin, no edges, irregular shaped pieces that are too small. Mediocre taste. If you go to St. Louis, do the Arch and the Hill (little Italy), but buy fresh baked bread and Italian sandwiches instead of pizza. :p

There used to be a craft brewery right next to Anheiser-Busch. If it's still there, worth the trip just for the food. If you are into such things, there are tour packages of the various breweries. If you have kids along, the Magic House and the Science Center, Grant's farm, or catch a Cardinals game. For the more sedate, there is the Museum, Forest Park and the botanical gardens. Consider getting an all day light rail pass, which will take you to several of the above. Lots to do in St Louis.

I would estimate 75% bread 15% cheese 10% pepperoni

They use like half a Kilo of cheese for deep dish pizza
Its America thats how they roll !

Green stuff? Ewww..

It is okay to have the palate of a picky 9 year old child, after all plenty of grown-up Americans (and Canadians I guess) do, but it's nothing I would personally take pride in :mischief:

Looks like you left the window open while someone was cutting grass.

:mischief:

We weren't all born with good taste, it's okay :)

That's how it's supposed to look like, actually.

Some people like Pizza and some people like greasy, chewy doughballs with imitation 'cheese' and 'pepperoni'. I mean, plenty of people eat Dominoe's Pizza or voluntarily, so.. Live and let live

Somehow, I can't see those leaves as anything I would want to eat.

don't eat much pizza anymore for health reasons. Once or twice a year I'll go for Papa John's. That's good enough for me.

The hill is good but like with my post below, it's not really that special unless you live in St. Louis. There are similar restaurant-neighborhoods in other cities too.

I didn't list those other things because for the most part you can do similar things in any other city and most other cities do it better. I did forget about the AB brewery, that tour was pretty cool and is worth doing. I don't know which craft brewery you are talking about.

Oh there is a great local beer in St. Louis. It was started by one of the Busch clan who was opposed to the AB Inbev buyout. Its called Kreftig and it's really, really good.

Is that just me but it looks like 50% bread and 50% cheese ?

It's a lot of bread yes. I like it, but get tired of it sometimes and go for regular hand tossed. It's twice as filling as regular pizza cus it's so thick, I'll usually only eat two slices, while hand tossed I'll eat 3 or 4 depending on how wide they are of course.

I don't get why anyone would eat pizza in st louis over bbq. It's a bbq mecca. Maybe if you're there for a week and tire of bbq after 6 days straight.

People actually eat salad, as unbelieavable as it sounds.

We clearly should find your son-in-law and send him an anonymous message containing a copy of that post.

The pizza in the image I was commenting on just looked like a standard dominoe's pizza and not deep dish though. But maybe I am wrong

Papa John's is only ever worth it if they sell at 50% off. Otherwise it's way too expensive for the average tasting pizza that you get

Most people say the BBQ in Kansas City is far superior to St Louis. I haven't had the former myself but the latter is tasty, especially pork steaks.

It might be, I have never had bbq in Kansas City, but that doesn't mean st louis bbq is bad. I love st louis style ribs, though I've only been to st louis to have them at the source once. Although my favorite bbq is brisket and burnt ends so I really should make a trip to texas.
