Rant #1 - got handed election material from my local opposition candidate at the train station this morning, and the election isn't for another 3 months at the earliest!

Rant #2 - there's a 30-ish story office building across the road from my office being demolished. They've got down to the last 5 or so floors, which is about level with our windows, and it's really loud[i/]. Like, jackhammers on concrete all day. It's been going on for weeks. I'm hoping the building work on the new 40-ish story building won't be so bad.

I have this problem for a different reason. There is an east asian intern working in our office, and we chat every once in a while, but not often enough to have that.. familiarity with each other. I see women who look very much like her on the bus and elsewhere. But I'm not sure. Maybe it's her? Maybe it's just another woman? I've never approached any of the people who look like her, I'm never confident enough it's actually her.

I only ever have this problem with east asian women. Not all of them mind you, but it seems to happen often enough. And I know that this sort of thing is not kosher to point out or whatever, but I'm not doing this on purpose, I just suck at telling some east asian women from each other.

We had for some time 2 students in our lab, both from...Aruba, I think, but with Chinese grandparents or something like that. I doubted if they're brother or sister, and really didn't want to ask, but turns out at the end that they were.
But yeah...your eye is a bit racist on that. It's not used to some patterns, and often you don't have enough time to get used to them.

Is there some manufacturing code that says the sound system on an ice cream truck has to be horrible? If I have to hear the opening six bars of Jingle Bells as rendered on an off key xylophone another three hundred times I'm gonna run this guy out of my neighborhood. And why Jingle Bells? The Logitech racing wheel I bought was defective. Possibly knowingly so from the seller, considering the price ($63). Advertised as mfg refurb'd but obviously not, and the "RMA@website.com" email address doesn't actually exist according to gmail. Wondering if I should just chargeback my CC or talk to Logitech about it since it's supposedly refurb. Either way, more hassle than I would like. Why can't it just work?

Meanwhile I have more hassle in that my apt manager office is being renovated and I can't reach him, and the main office won't answer the phone. WTH!?
