That is because you did not join CFC early enough to live in the days before Xenforo.

I did; never logged in that way and would never. :p

Aaaaaaand, he's wrong again.

I think.

Xenforo is what we have now that you are always whining about, yes? Or is Xenforo the 'golden age' that we had before this one that you are always whining about? Which to me seems pretty much the same in all the ways that actually matter.

Xenforo is our current system and is different from what we had in the past. Times change. People often can't keep up.

I think the forum used to use vBulletin.

Does anybody know when the changeover was? I just remember being away for a few years and coming back and everything looked funny.

Sept/Oct 2016, I believe.

The subscriptioms page is the best page of this site by a mile and a half. I cant think I would still hang around if not for it.

A water main burst down the street from my house. The water is shut off until it is fixed, which according to the police that are directing traffic around it will be about 6 to 8 hours once the work crew shows up. The work crew has not shown up...

You are armed and have seen Mad Max. The solution is clear here.

FFS.
Today I threw away all the furniture in my apartment (because of the move). That all worked fine, all in time, plan nicely working.
Then I quickly wanted to drop my stuff at a friends place, where I'll be staying for the next 3 days. By car, since I still had the transporter.
I knew in her area there were constructions going on, and I've never been there by car, only by bike.
So I turned into the next road (I saw it on google, but didn't have GPS on, because my GPS is really terrible), and it was a mud road. I say to myself "fine, probably building on that too".
Well...no, they were not. I ended up with my sprinter in the middle of a construction site, stuck deep in mud. Had to get the whole thing towed out, and the guy with the towing car was unsure if we'd even manage, it was that bad.
So, +1 on the experience list: Getting stuck with a car in a forein country and needing to get towed.
Ruined my evening plan, cost me 2h+, cost me a lot of nerves, and will probably cost me quite some money, depending on what might be broken or not.
Good start of the week. Let's not do something stupid tomorrow.

Sometimes I'll start typing a response to a thread in the 'quick reply' box underneath the latest message, then change my mind and delete it. The forum software remembers, though, and leaves my partially-written response there every time I open the thread again. I just have to delete it again when I do write an eventual response. This can occasionally be baffling when the saved text is referencing text written days ago and I have no memory of what I was trying to say, since the conversation in the thread has moved on.

I've found half-written posts in the quick-reply box where I have no idea what I was even trying to say.
