As someone who is currently under the American-style system, I feel for you.
Actually I now remember there was a foreign exchange student from Germany in one of my classes not too long ago. He told us something like "We Germans complain about how our healthcare and education systems suck, then we remember about America."
Na, we're way to self centered to seriously consider that.
At least that prevents our systems from further deteriorating (theoretically), so that we will not get there.
Rant on my own: My left index finger hurts . And I'm left handed. Not nice .
From what I understand, the German health system is broadly similar to the US - with mandates, subsidies and employer sponsored insurance covering most people rather than NHS style healthcare.
Going back to White Australia is taboo but considering this is a government that has proven itself brutal and dishonest in treating asylum seekers, wants to make the school curriculum focuses on "Judeo-Christian values" and "benefits of Western civilization", plans to repeal a law that punishes racial villification, and has just thrown the post-1970s national consensus on health and education policy out the window, the post-1970s national consensus on multiculturalism is definitely not in safe hands.
