Random Rants LIII: F My Life

I said goodbye to a friend leaving for Europe. Actually, going home, probably won't be coming back.

:(

Know that feeling, had it last year 4 times (for forever), had it this year 1 time (temporary), will have it at least 2 times more this year, and probably 10 times more (forever) next year.
There are times when life sucks.

That was nearly midnight when I posted that.

Right time for party :D.

I had absinthe for the first time last night. Probably one of the less-smart things I've done in recent memory...

Haven't associated that with that much capacity for trauma relative to the alternatives. Was it spiked with something other than the massive alcohol content and the root itself?

I wasn't aware of its high alcohol content (148 proof), so I drank a rather large amount of it. I thought it was a liqueur.

I've never tried absinthe - and I don't think I'll ever bother now, as I drink less and less and alcohol. But what's it like?

I initially read absinthe as abstinence. Changed the meaning of things a bit.

Ouch. That sounds like a rantworthy hangover indeed.

I thought it was a liqueur.

Then you're doing it wrong.*

Not absinthe, but liqueur.**

Liqueurs are ordinarily consumed in very small quantities relative to most other alcoholic beverages.

*as you scarcely, now, need me to tell you.

**well, absinthe, too, by extension.

Went to a rather unimpressive fair, and one of my closest friends turns out to have basically abandoned the idea of studying in Germany with me next year, and even the German language in general. Alone it is, then, as usual.

Alone can probably be better. During my first semester here, there was another guy from my home university living only about 200m away from me, which was fantastic in that I had a ready made friend, but also limited the extent to which I could be bothered branching out.

Doing the literature review for my econometrics regression analysis makes me realize just how crap my model is. Thankfully my results are broadly in agreement with the 'consensus' results so at least my model is just crap as opposed to crap and wrong.

I'm rather appallingly bad at branching out.

Well as I've learned you just have to wiggle your tentacles at people. Most people will flee, but the right ones will stay.

EDIT: Also just found that this really cute, really geeky, really kinky girl I like doesn't believe in using any kind of protection. At all. No condoms, pills, whatever. Never used it. All she does is regular check-ups and the old pull out method. Wow. I don't even...there are still people like that around? Jeez. I have to drop her off my interest list. Way too paranoid for that.

I was going to be visiting the UW (Washington) this upcoming week. I have a friend who goes there, and she's in school until the 11th or something. But I am no longer going because airfare is too expensive, and driving even more so.

:(

There are still come Catholics around, here and there. Not that this is one of them, but the answer to your question is, "ayup."

As in "will probably never ever see him/her again [except for possible vacation to said place in Europe]?"

I never liked goodbyes.

Yeah, probably forever or at least long enough it feels like it. I'm not exactly in the position to be taking vacations in Europe, at least not for the next several years.

Also, I just took a ride in the worst-smelling train ever. #1stworldprobs #smellslikesuccess

Sorry, missed this. Not that I'm any pro and relative intoxication experiences are slippery. But I guess try to envision getting head-drunk really fast(several shots of ~75% alcohol, that really is the primary result), with some minor visuals(tracers/wall-melting or whatever your own flavor of hallucinogenic presentation generally is).
