Really makes no sense for medical practitioners to be closed >_<

I'm already a month overdue for a medical trip myself, the place is closed indefinitely

A lot of specialist type offices have shut down so that their staff can take ER shifts.

Here it's already small-hours-a.m. and I'm just a one-man dance party*, but I'll have to post about our Visit to the Dentist today tomorrow.

I'm supposed to get some blood tests for my doctor soon but I'm kind of terrified to go to the hospital (and I honestly don't even know if they're doing them)

Are the labs not doing tests other than for COVID?

I'm supposed to have annual bloodwork done, but I'm postponing it until it's safe to go anywhere.

I'm dreading the argument that will be coming with City Hall over my eligibility to use the disabled transit. I have to renew every three years, and the deadline is coming up in July. It needs my doctor's signature, and last time I tried to explain that they needed to give people more than 3 weeks to do this. The problem isn't that the doctor is unwilling. The people who make her appointments are the roadblock because they are truly clueless idiots when it comes to situations where the only thing needed is a few minutes and a signature. They don't think it's important enough to bother the doctor with on short notice, and I had to explain that if this didn't get done by the deadline, I'd basically be stranded.

They need to relax the rules this year, and let it all be done by phone and fax, at least for the people who have been with the program for as many years as I have. It's not like I've made some miraculous recovery and don't need it anymore.

I want a trip to the optometrist. I'm surrounded by so many things I can't do or deal with because I can't see properly, and I really need new glasses.

But are optometrists considered essential? Nope. It must be hell for the people who were supposed to get cataract surgery this year. Some of those people will end up blind, like I nearly did last year.

My mother is in the same boat as that. Her dog chewed up her last decent glasses. Needs a new exam as well as new glasses.

That's probably one of my top fears right now (after getting dsick, or anything related to my ex): that my glasses could break. I can't even access my old ones.
(Should get them on Monday)

Dontcha know, they need to keep kicking the people on the bottom. Have to make sure they know their place.

Actually this is also my problem, almost every-text on paper is bit kind a doubling, I delay wearing glasses during Covid, but now. Yea I'm still going out and working sometime, behind me there are lots of people life, but I'm going mostly to isolated/clustered place where going in and out need a special check, but I'm not gonna go to public places like Doctor or Optic.

Someone tried to Facetime my phone at 1:00 in the morning.

Nobody I know personally actually knows my telephone number. I have other ways of being contacted (for free.)

The only reason I have a number at all is so I can use my phone. I’m typing this message on it now!

I heard there are massive data that are leaked from zoom and recently sold at that dark-web, I just changed my facebook password, I'm not sure if that can be related to your problem. It's a good time also to warn people here to change the password of the social-media account that they used for zoom. I used facebook so I changed that one.

@haroon, I’d never heard of Zoom until about two weeks ago. I’m so isolated from tech stuff these days.

Another rant: how come they don’t have good general interest magazines like Life anymore? Big glossy pages of pictures with interesting stories or information. Television, yeah, you flick it on and forget about it. I have a TV but it’s not plugged in.

Market segmentation is more profitable.

You have just described every level of government in my province. Only City Hall thinks the policy that pharmacies are not a valid medical destination for disabled transit makes sense. Well, that and one of the home care people. The rest think the policy is insane, especially when I point out that there are some things a delivery driver is not qualified to do.

But at least that abominable delivery driver I had last month is gone (quit or got fired, I don't care which). I have to wonder how many other people she was treating like crap but they didn't speak up.

I never heard of Zoom until someone on TrekBBS started setting up video chats. I haven't participated, but have noted that the people who do have really enjoyed it. Someone in the Admirals' Lounge over there was thinking of setting up another just for our group.

At the end of the month I think I will subscribe to BBC Earth. It's been free for this past month, and I've really been enjoying it (binge-watching astronomy and David Attenborough programs). Since The Handmaid's Tale probably won't be on this year (they film a lot of it on location in Toronto and weren't done with Season 4 when the pandemic hit), this channel can take the place of the other one I subscribe to while THT is on.

Is there a digital version of the magazines you like?
