I am so gutted. I think my car is broken, but not broken enough to get fixed.

I hardly ever use it ATM, and I went to get my second jab today and as usually had to charge up the battery first. It goes fine, but the roof refuses to go down and the stereo thinks it is stolen and beeps to make it unlistenable. I have a rule that I will not pay a professional to fix a car if it still goes, turns and stops (with a concession to the man these days of getting the paperwork in order). I may be able to fix it, but I am not hopeful about the stereo in particular

It sounds like the battery was out of charge so long the computers freaked out. I'm sure that's within the realm of googlefu.

The thing is the battery was not that flat, it was giving ~9.5V before I started. I have had it much flatter over the last year. I shall ask the internet and see if I can figure it out.

Many faults posted on here can be cleared by Rebooting the Peugeot BSI.
Also, shown at the bottom is the correct (safe) method of disconnecting & reconnecting the battery.

Method for restarting the BSI:
1.The very first step is to unplug the diagnostic tool from the vehicle (if used)
2.Make sure all the gadgets are switched off, the driver’s window lowered down and open the bonnet.
3.Then close all the doors and take out the key from ignition.
4.After a 3 minute interval, disconnect the vehicle’s battery terminals and wait for a further 15 seconds.
5.Re attach the battery terminals and give a 10 second pause making sure the doors are closed.
6.Turn the side lights on.
7.Now turn the engine on and inspect the system functions. then switch off.
8.Press and hold down the lock button on the key for 10 seconds.Remove key.
9.Check the central locking system by unlocking and locking the door consecutively using the key
10.Turn the engine on again and finish inspecting the system.

Why can't they just have a little hole you poke a straightened paperclip in like civilised people?

My Peugeot cc has a computer problem too. I think it's a bad data cable that looses contact when the engine is hot, but since I use it every third month ATM I've been quite chill about the issue.

Books suck. Particularly if you start a new one without having finished the previous one. Now I have 75 pages for one book, and half of another book (something like 200, but those are far smaller pages, so ultimately roughly the same as for the first).

Whether reading or writing, it sounds like a normal situation to me. I always have multiple books (physical and e-books and fanfics) on the go, and I've been writing multiple versions of my King's Heir epic for the last two and a half years.

Isaac Asimov was usually in the same situation, btw, whether reading or writing. He preferred to have multiple projects on the go at once in case he ran into a problem. If Murphy's Law or writer's block or cantankerous editors/publishers gave him issues for one project, he'd have several others he could work on instead, so as not to waste time.

It's not the book's fault that you can't pay attention to it. Even with hundreds of video games, movies and TV series at my fingertips, books are among my favorite means of entertainment that can be done at home without specific kind of company.

I've found that the characters sometimes have their own ideas as to how they want to act and speak, and won't be convinced otherwise. That's why I don't like a couple of my characters anymore. They used to be nice people, and now I want to kill them off but can't, since they're crucial to the plot that's already been decided in stone.

I just read that the man convicted of raping and murdering Mia Zapata in 1993 died in prison in January. It was only made public today, for some reason. I wish I had some feeling of closure, or at least schadenfreude, but I don't. I just feel kind of sick again.

Travelled yesterday. Haven't left the bed today. The covid antigen test was negative, and it's probably just traveller's diarrhea. Still not exactly how I pictured meeting my GF for the first time after 5 months .

Heck, even if we choose to ignore suicides and people who were shot and survived, "mass shootings" probably only account for something like 15%-20% of shooting victims. If the average number of people killed in "mass shootings" was 8 - the number killed in San Jose yesterday, not counting the gunman - then "mass shootings" would still only account for 24% of homicides, and I doubt the average number of victims across those 232 incidents is so high.

Note: "DGU" = defensive gun use, of which they count 495 verified incidents.

Closure is not one of the things death provides. It doesn't even end your relationship with the deceased if you had that. You're still in that, permanently. It's just a much more difficult relationship.

even if ı was real , there would be nothing on any of my computers that would get me in trouble , unless it / they were put there by others . Has been saying that since 2009(?) that people thinking they are like cool using exploits self placed by Microsoft under NSA supervision and whatnot might feel very low ; considering Bill Gates might have been seen in person (by my online pals) , when he and Steve Jobs were close . ı kill time playing Civ , some books time to time , a few songs and stuff ; and this last decade and a half , which should have inspired an idea that there was no point in bothering .

edit: Checked the link . NSA would have approved the design years ago . What was the Trek brand of computers , Daystrom ?
