I never got an A in an English class. Wouldn't bow down and write like they demanded.

Unlike say math, their grading is subjective, arbitrary, and vindictive.

Write a 3 page report on why diversity is important yet?

I certainly sympathize with anyone who can read and write well and still get clobbered.

I have been basically forced to write about corn subsidies and how they apply to various American political factors every week for the past four months. I know nothing about science or economics, so when I have to find six scholarly articles, I stick to what I can actually read, stuff that isn't filled with complex formulas incomprehensible to a history major.

I realize now that I made numerous mistakes on my annotated bib, so I can understand losing a fair amount of points, but a one out of a hundred is incomprehensible.

Good God I'm terrified. There are only a few hundred points total in the course, and this could break my grade. That means I'd fail, and quite possibly lose my scholarships. I don't know if my family can afford to put me through college without scholarships for long. If my prof doesn't let me retry, I don't know what I'll do.

4 months? Drats, probably too late to withdraw from the class without taking a grade.

I'd definitely try to join more study groups. Feedback from classmates helps catch little niggling things like doing an assignment wrong or some arcane due date coming up which can prevent zeros or close to zeros from hitting you.

It's far too late. I didn't even want to be in this goddamned class. It's just a requirement and an obstacle. I don't know if anything short of a redo of the bib will save my grade. Months of work could be wiped out by one poorly-done project.:(

Have you tried contacting you professor in any way? He might be able to point out specifically what went wrong, and what you can do to fix it grade wise. They're job should be to help you, not hinder you.

Also, generally before I turn an essay or paper in, I have either my TA or professor look it over and tell me if I'm going in the right direction.

But yeah, a 1/100 is really harsh. I would expect that type of grade if you turned in an essay that was only a sentence long, not something that actually has substance to it.

I was stupid today and not paying proper attention to driving and as a result I went up a curb and that resulted in destroying my tyre. At least when I took my car to my cousin's car shop it gave his son quite a laugh. A journey that would take about a minute meant it to get to took 5 minutes on that badly damaged tyre. Hopefully I have a picture of it tomorrow. Pretty dumb, well it could have be worse had I really damaged my car.

UPDATE: Turns out the 1/100 grade is just a placeholder and not my actual grade. What a relief!

Your professor would seem to have a few screws loose then.

Rant #1: Allergies.
Rant #2: The annual major tests are next week.
Rant #3: Allergies during the major tests that are next week.
Rant #4: Coleslaw as a side dish to pizza for lunch. It was terribly bitter, and I. STILL. TASTE. IT.

Amen on the allergies. Although oddly its effected me less than it has in previous years and I have spent more time near tons of pollen this year

And Coleslaw isn't bad :p. But on Pizza?!?!? Who would do such a thing

1. My friend went to the the Maury show.

2. My sister called me, which is rare, to complain about my parents for an hour. Teenagers.....never have them and if you do lock them at home the rest of the time.

Oh and why was she complaining? Because my parents told her to study for her AP exams next month rather than going out to parties.

Then she asked if she could move in with me.

No you foolish girl. No.

That sounds like an unsafe place there. :(

Rant: yet another night of protests against the government. But I made it from the Congress to my place!

Still, it's extremely depressing to see how with a couple dozen well-placed thugs you can cause a stampeding riot and have a few hundred dead at little to no cost. :undecide:
