Random Raves XXVII: And what in the blue blazes is a ROFLcopter?

Just got back from a lecture by none other than Neil deGrasse Tyson, which was absolutely fantastic. Most of the science stuff he discussed was more or less a washed down version of my gen ed astronomy class, but it was told in such a funny/charismatic way I didn't care about hearing it twice. The man is hilarious, and has some very interesting philosophical ideas, honestly.

10/10 would listen again.

(also a mandatory Iowa rocks for grabbing such high profile lecturers, even though this was his first time in the state of Iowa )

You're so lucky. He visited the area recently, but I was taking a PSEO night class on that campus at the time. I was so close but so far...

Got a call from HR from a company I applied to. Just have to pass the math test and fingers crossed that I get an interview and a job.

Dude! Awesomesauce! Way to go man! :high5:

You see how great the direct method can be? Now think about how much doubt and agony you would have been (and for how long) if you hadn't accidentally messaged her.
Yeah, I probably should have told her a while ago :p

Congrats :goodjob:.
Thanks! :D

Random rave:
Spent lunchtime eating an amazing cheeseburger and watching the second half of the Arsenal-Everton game. Always fun.

Hey, congrats, finally :goodjob:.

Well, it's still too early to celebrate. I have to (knock on wood) ace the math test, then get the interview. When I get a job offer, that's when I'd let out the flying pigs and the champagne ;).

I saw my aunt today and my grandma is coming back from Florida Sunday. My report card was pretty good. I've been watching King of the Hill on Netflix recently.

Rave: There is no instrument more beautiful than the khuur. I need to learn how to play it, even if I have to go to Mongolia.

I can't tell if this will be good or not.

Christopher Nolan makes me happy, but Zack Snyder makes me sad. I'm torn.

Why? Sure Sucker Punch was a stinker, but 300 was excellent from a visual standpoint. Watchmen was meh, but to be fair the source material is very meh too.

Well that's the thing, I don't want something that's entirely focused on the visual, I want substance before eye candy.

One of the reasons I don't like Malick's newer flicks, entirely visual with no substance.

Well the screenplay was by Nolan and Goyer, so make of that what you will. And the cast looks really impressive. And Hans Zimmer did the score. I'm a big Superman fan, so I may be blinded by that, but I feel very optimistic.

Oh yeah, don't let me get you down, I'm hoping it turns out fantastic. It seems to have all the right ingredients, I'm just hoping that Snyder doesn't taint or disappoint.

I don't even like Superman and that trailer looks pretty good.
