Why can't you lock your front door?Depending on your point of view, yes. Since I can't lock the front door, I'm locking the next best thing. A burglar can rob my kitchen of its thrift store belongings and I won't care much.![]()

Cant you replace it yourself? If you are already getting one for your bedroom, you may as well go the whole way and pay for a proper one at the main door. Or brick up the entrance each night.

If your landlord evicted you for forcing him to repair his own property, I can't imagine that people would be rushing to rent from him in a hurry.

Yay for slum landlords in 2017!
It's a landlord's market. Renters are forced to bid above the listed price in order to get a chance at being picked for the blessing that is being allowed to live under a roof. There is no such thing as a landlord people won't rent from here.
Are you on a month to month lease? If so I think he has to give you 30 (or 60?) days to get out. Which would suck. But if you're on a longer lease he can't just get rid of you unless you broke some term in your lease, and he'd have to wait until your lease is over to get rid of you.
