I switched off cigarettes for vaping and I mix my own juice so I've been able to reduce the nicotine amounts to arbitrarily low values. The verdict is still out as to whether this will be better for me but my bipolar disorder is helped by the nicotine so I'm not willing to give it up entirely.

Aye I tried that too. Just ended up compensating with a lot more vaping. Sucking down those clouds until I got that buzz. My throat did not like it at all.
I actually found high nicotine juice easier to moderate. Then I could quickly get my nic fix then put the vape pen back in a drawer or something. But it's not a great habit and my throat doesn't like it. Snus comes with similar issues so that's not great either. So I guess it's time.
This pretty much explain why I gotta plus now, even though I'm not yet that old (mid 30s). Especially when I wake up in the morning, I cannot read something even quite clear. Still not using my glasses though
I smoke from 10 years old (my parent anger doesn't intimidated me enough to stop behind them), now I'm 2 pack a day.
That's a pretty big if as there are more than 7000 chemicals in cigarette smoke. Cigarettes really is an impressively harmful product. Other nicotine products are pretty tame in comparison. But that's not to say that there aren't good reasons to quit those as well.

Reducing nicotine content works pretty well for me, until I remember that now that I've lowered my tolerance I can get a nice high if I switch from 3mg/ml to 12mg/ml.
It has almost become a regular cycle.

Afaik nicotine itself is the least harmful substance in cigarettes. The only negative effect I notice from vaping is sometimes high blood pressure.
My main motivation for quitting is that it cost me about 50€ a month, but that's an acceptable price to pay for being somewhat less crazy.
Oddly enough, smoking actually is linked to a decreased risk of Parkinson's Disease. It's probably not a good idea to start smoking for that reason though.
I always wondered if it might be because people who smoke are more likely to die of cancer or other nasty things before the symptoms of PD start to manifest.
