Random Thoughts X: Impromptu Interpretations

Huh, yeah I don't get many religious items in my feed. The closest I get to religion in my feed is when The Female Lead posts about Malala and people of all stripes hate on her in turn for being too Muslim or not Muslim enough and then use that as a jumping off point to expound on their thoughts on Muslims in general. This is pretty rare though and it's mostly just one old The Femal Lead post that gets recycled to the top of my feed for whatever reason.

So religious... but racist.

Yeah pretty much. I report a lot of posts these days but I get no insight into what, if anything, LinkedIn does with those reports. Probably nothing. The only example I can think of of LinkedIn doing something is when someone posted a picture of a class of black graduating lawyers and an old white guy responded, 'Looks like a bunch of thugs to me' and his response and the resulting outrage went viral. LinkedIn ended up booting that guy off the platform as a result of the public backlash but I've seen so much content that is way more offensive than that which goes unmoderated. I assume they are taking the Facebook approach of only acting when public outrage reaches a certain level.

Reading my LinkedIn feed is truly miserable.

If I have to read one more recruiter's post about how you should do a deep-dive research of every single company you apply to and create a resume (from scratch) specifically for the job, I'm gonna hurl. I don't understand professionals who cater to the lower rungs of the ladder recommending things that only apply to the upper echelons. "I help new graduates start their careers." Then why are you telling them to act like they're dealing with C-suite stakes? Get outta here.
A better solution is to have one resume and just customize the cover letter to match the job you are applying for. In the letter you match the job requirements to the corresponding parts in your resume. @hobbsyoyo can't do that because it's not rocket science, but everyone else can. :)

Disrupt the cloud,
Blockchain is the Uber of hacking,
Be a ninja rockstar

My LinkedIn is full of this crap and I’m not even an engineer nor am I in a sales position that deals with technology beyond trivial demonstrations of company software. No religion or politics though, which is good.

Wiki sez:

The longest range wire-guided missiles in current use are limited to about 4 km (2.5 mi).
These function but my 2 meter (6 ft) headphone cable gets easily tangled up. Explain!

Entropy is a git. Strings, cables and other wires naturally tangle themselves up. Even string left tidily in a draw and never touched will slowly tangle itself up.

What they don't tell you is to get that 2.5 mile range they have to use 25 miles of wire to compensate for the tangling.

This country actually has a female as president - for the first time.
Though it should be noted that president is mostly a ceremonial position here - the prime minister holds executive power. The president can block some decisions, but it rarely happens (though at times it has happened; it's not entirely theoretical).

Prior to becoming president of the country, she was a high judge.

I'm having a cup of the same coffee that I often have, but I'm also having a chocolate chip cookie, which I don't often have, and holy crap is the cookie making the coffee taste bitter.

It's the sugar....

On Saturday I will be trying to see if I can tolerate a cucumber. I'm also getting a "vegetarian sandwich" from the store's deli, which should be... interesting. We'll see if I feel well enough to risk it. Very likely not, but who knows.

Thus far I've been able to tolerate a banana, some skinned/boiled potato, and a slice of white toast with the crust removed. Occasionally, a hard-boiled egg. I'd like to see if I can expand on this. Everything else has been a bad news bears sorta thing. No fat, no lactose, no chicken, no saltines, no green beans, no rice... Not knowing exactly what's wrong makes it difficult to try new things because the recommended diets are directly contradictory to one another depending on what you have. Still, tolerant to two of four of the BRAT diet is something.

How long until you finally get yourself your medical checkout?

How long until you finally get yourself your medical checkout?

The GP shall ring-a-ding-ding me on the 11th. In-person appointments are 3 weeks out from there, and that's how I'd need to get a referral to a lab or specialist. Unless she makes an exception. For the past five years she's insisted on seeing me IRL and handing me the requisition forms physically, but perhaps COVID-19 has changed her position on that.

So either mid-September or early October.
