I'm more like a general theist; you may consider it similar to deism, though I do not reject revealed religion.
I would tend to be of the view that in 8 billion humans currently alive, the majority of "below average intelligence" people are not easy to differentiate in terms of any obvious atheism or theism in their views. I mean most atheists are not really math PHDs, you know, neither most theists, and diagnosed 'mentally handicapped' people likely are not often theistic in a meaningful way (or atheistic).
That said, i suppose that of the higher intellect levels (not going to try to define how to divide those) most would more likely be agnostic. There were notable 'theists'/entheists in the significant sciences of past times (eg Newton or Pascal), and hardcore atheists are not that easy to find in the very top rises of even the recent scientific world (eg Einstein), but as i said i suspect that the question on entheism/atheism is more tied to the person having notable abilities in abstract/linguistic/introverted analytical thought, as well as a generally high intelligence.
That is just my π minus (Φ-φ

While we can not test weather something exists at all, we can test how reliable different ways are to determine weather something exists. Which means that while we can not know weather there is a 'God' we know pretty well that people claiming they know are just idiots.
And this believe of idiocy is what IMO is the actual believe of Atheism. Not that there is no God.
A prober or at least useful understanding of Agnosticism hence would IMO be to be open the idea that people really can tap into some kind higher knowledge rather than just being delusional. Whereas the simple acknowledgement "Well I can not say for total certainty you are wrong" is something any Atheist should be happy to give as well.
The only thing that has put my atheism to the test is someone asking me if I had considered the possibility that I was already in hell.

Consider a spherical cow, I mean a toy model of physics. Assume religion is like a potential trap, and IQ as free energy. High IQ personnel can escape religious trap and becoming atheists; how ever they can also choose to stay in the trap area most of time.
That is, people who think hard enough to question God must have higher IQ than a threshold; but that doesn't mean people who accept God has lower IQ.

What if a person with a very low IQ is raised to be atheist? How does that fit into your box?

Well, can't fit into my model. But since the West evolves from Christianity domination, and IQ is somewhat inheritable, I dare say low IQ appears much less in atheist families.
