RR2- No Worker Paradise

Our economy? I guess it should be called LE - Land Economy. Keep on warring mostly. Get GS to bulb lib -> chemistry -> rifles. Would be great to get some unbulbable tech from lib like RP, rifling, steel or another military tech.

Once we get some improved land we won't have any problems, just have to keep up warring.

To me it seems like this game is quite easy. I do remember my mentionning to set the difficulty to prince (but I'm not sure about that). We might want to try that again, later :p

Yep, RP or Steel look nice from lib indeed... I guess we will adjust that function of our opponents progress :)

I agree.

We must also think about getting to know the other civs. AFAIK (my only source of information are your reports and screenies) we haven't explored our shores and there are more AIs to be met. Make sure to send out a Trireme or three. Looks like the time for scouting WBs are over :(

i think we must continue on to capture nicaea, this will connect our newly aquired cities to London by way of the river/sea routes.

A bit more exploring goes without saying

Sorry guys... I got delayed :( but will play this afternoon :)

I played a rather short round because I felt team input is needed now... so 8 turns to 960 AD :)

details:

t152: Switch some builds: Thessa -> barrack (before archer), Adria -> granary, York -> lib (rather near to London, and it's better to run scientists than spy for us :) )
The priest is heading Adrianople... and I hire scientists in London

t153: Constantinople -> granary
3 pop whip the lib in York

t154: Notthingham -> lib
Justinian got feudalism this turn :(

t155: nothing

t156 : CS is in... I didn't revolt in bur as we hadn't discuss of this and I am not sure of the viabillity of the move (no cottages in the city...).
We start Aesthetics in the path of litterature for the NE and HE... I think paper can wait a little regarding our tech lead... Machinery was another choice but we need to discuss before starting that because it prevents to bulb liberalsm latter...

t157: Assault of Nicea... the RNG pissed me off on this one...
I started by loosing 3 cats then I lose an elephant at 98.9% ... preventing us to take the city in one turn... I am  again!
We gain a GG in York though and Justi one in Nicea.
2 pop whip a cat in Notthingham...

t158: Willem declares on Joao
We take Nicea loosing another phants...

We build the Temple of Salomon in Adrianople :)

I stopped here because I think it's time to end the war ... it's too costly to fight LBs with our loosy production. We can get some nice stuff for peace:

Notes:

Next player should whip the barrack in 2 turns in Thessa.
Next player should whip the granary in Adrianople next turn
Constantinople is running scientists to benefit from the academy (it has no cottages...)
London runs scientists as well as it's a little overwhipped...
The GG can join a forest2 warrior next turn near Thessa to form a forest3medic unit...
The east part of the empire is now connected to London...
Aesthetics due next turn :)

I can't give much input here but I see how nice it was from Justinian to settle his brand new GG in our newest city...

Any particular reason for aesthetics? The two uses for it I know of are wonder whoring and trading it to AIs, neither of which seems appropriate right now.

Nothing to add to this basically :). I think we should talk a little more regarding our tech choices (and I should have spoken about that point before playing, sorry about that)...

Cheers

Machinery is a great war tech. But tech choices are also tied to GPs. What GP are we producing atm?
We have the SH so there will be GPs. Those we don't really need; probabely burn one on a GA. Then we have GLH, GMs should probabely be settled. We don't have engineers (I think) so bulbing machinery (while researching lit) is no option. But we can run scientists (and use them to bulb techs that help research further like paper, edu, lit) while selfresearching machinery.

I believe we have CS so Machinery would be my pick. Whip some maces (we need wars now, while :whipped: is still rather effective, later, we'll need to draft) and get some more cities. Run scientists for bulbing key techs. Also - I'm not sure from what I see on the tech screen - do we plan to attack other "non-LB" - civs?

Run scientists for bulbing key techs.

That is why i hold on researching machinery... because it prevents to bulb liberalism... But indeed maces before liberalism is the way to go here. About war, I think we don't have the forces to do much damages right now... more units must be trained :) before moving on another target I think. So what about Literature (HE) -> Machinery (maces) as tech path?

Cheers

This is noble ppl..... we can self research lib most certainly... and maces will help the research :trouble: :D

 I got so paranoid by the tech pace in some recent games, that I am becoming a compulsive bulber :crazyeye: (the "must got lib asap" syndrom)

You have a strange definition of "research".

I rather like it, though.

We should focus on building up some more cats; we'll need those whether we use elephants, maces, or anything else (knights?).

got it, will most probably not play until tuesday to give us a chance to discuss next move.

I'd conquer another empire that has workers asap, just build 20 warriors or so. Even better, begin with Huyna or Pacal for instance, MM or Ham'd be good too.Would make it too simple though.

Lol Dirk, warriors glorious days are over! (and I like cheese but still... wait this is noble ) Perhaps in another game ;)

cheers,

According to TMIT you can conquer empires below monarch with warriors :D.

 our most famous unit spammer! (I remember one of his opening in a cookbook or something where he rushed Huyna with tones of warriors... it was really fun) :)
