[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Sign up Thread

Sorry for the lack of replies, SGOTMs take many months to play whereas a normal GOTM takes about a month so the commitment both from players and administrators is much greater. Experience shows us that many players drop out over the months for a number of perfectly valid reasons. To run a competitive SGOTM with 3 teams would mean needing 18 committed players (you can manage with much less but if you only start out with 3 players in a team you run a high risk of not being able to complete it).

My situation has calmed down so if there is enough interest we could give it a go - perhaps what we need are 3 captains who then go and recruit their teams??

Let's do this!

Noble Zarkon and I can jointly administer it. Y'all need to form the teams and AlanH will need to make the files.
Let's use NZ's map as previously discussed.

I'm going to create 4 team discussion threads. These are open to anyone to view. You are free to discuss strategy if you want. :mischief: Main purpose is to gather the team members. Some participants may need to be moved between teams and team names may change.

Tentative Schedule:
1st 3 weeks of March - form teams
4th week of March - distribute save and start the competition

Three months to play. Finish by 30 June.

I have attached forum handles in each of the threads to help more see that action is about.
Alot of the names haven't been seen on the forums for 1-2 years though.
I think we have to see how many ping these threads and then rebalance teams.
My suspicion is that we should probalby go with two teams rather than three. Four seems entierly unlikely.

3 would be better imo, for 3 medals?
Cautiously optimistic that we can get some newer players in, i mean there's hardly any pressure now even if some mistakes happen, and the learning experience far exceeds other games.

Could be right. Seems to be quite alot of activity in S&T right now, so there is hope! :D

Life in this format yet. :)

Thanks to M under F and G for taking the time to read and reply and ESPECIALLY to D and NZ for trying to resurrect the SGOTM!

I absolutely second Fippy - for all my opinion is worth - in that it is a great learning experience, even for mere onlookers, and I am very optimistic about teams, there are at least three ready-to-go, if I remember well the exchanges that took place year(s) ago.

Former winners and almost-winners and long-time players have priority in what they consider the best set-up, so I am shutting up on this and holding my fingers crossed!

You'll entice me to buy C4 again, I've heard you can play it thru Steam's cloud, and that might be a good option, but I am not sure this could work on my VERY old computer.

Good luck 26th!

Will be playing pitboss at realmsbeyond shortly, but I am still up for this... (I didn t see the notifications with all that mafia gaming. blame @Timsup2nothin, who shall join btw)

Which team is up to welcome an old deity player, now just sloppy player ?

I think fill the teams lacking members. We want more teams.

Welp, would be a pretty good time to stay indoors - virus free - and play some SGOTM!

I recommend staff post an announcement in the S&T and General forums to draw some new and old eyes.

Not sure where we stand with teams at the moment. I think PR is set.

Everyone stay safe!

That would be indefinitely? I think if anything people are at home more now. Need something to do to keep the brain cells ticking over.
