Confirming Piedmont.

From Piedmont
To Britan

I thought i might remind you that my brother is the heir of the Jacobins, and has the Stuart claim to your throne. Your enemies in Europe and the world will probably want to use that claim, and i was considering using it diplomatically.

However, i will persuade him to transfer it to you if you help me annex Sicily.

Defensive alliance?

From Piedmont
To Austria

How about a 5-turn NAP?

Threat to Sicily is in direct violation of the Mutual Protection Pact between Spain and Sicilies.

OOC: I know that. But with Britan's naval supremacy, it is hard to stop.

From Piedmont
To Kingdom of Ethiopia

My eldest daughter is a woman. While this goes against Piedmont's traditions, i am the King and i can decide to change the law in that regard. I propose a dynastic unioun between our two great Christian nations.

EDIT OOC: For those who think Luckymoose a good tactician, check out the Berbers in JalNES.

I am seeing open discussion with my enemy about how they are going to beat me. Now I have seen everything. Oh I doubt Britian will attack me. If they do, I will be upset when I have to murder them all.

Kingdom of Hawai'i

Kamehameha- The lonely one"
"The Napoleon of the Pacific" is what future generations would call the greatest king the Pacific would ever produce. Kamehameha, no matter how difficult it was for Europeaners to prounce his name, was the first man ever to unite the Hawai'ian islands into one kingdom- through both diplomacy and war.

Born in 1758, under a sign of fire shooting through the sky, legends told of the Great's coming. Given the name of Pai'ea, Kamehameha was the grandson of Keaweikekahiali'iokamoku- who had rule dover much of the island of Hawai'i during his time. It would be in 1779 that Pai'ea, as an aide to the chief, would meet someone that would forever change the history of the isles- British captain James cook. It would be his first dealing with the white man- and surely not his last.

In 1782, after a falling out between Kamehameha and his cousin Kiwala'o, a group of chieftans offered him the kingship of the Kowa district- the first of many kingdoms to come. Needless to say, Kamehameha accepted eagerly. After defeating his cousin in a one-sided battle, he took control of the districts of Kohala, Kona, and Hamakua on Hawai'i- forming the base of hiw power. He moved against Keawema'uhili, the chief of Puna, in 1790 and would once again be the subject of the gods' desires- a third of a rebllilous army was killed by a volcano when they fled. Keoua, the leader of the rebellious army, met with Kamehameha in 1790 and discovered a horrible secret- Kamehame had purchased muskets from the white man. The rebellion was stomped down and Kamehameha was king of Hawai'i.

Despite all the laws set in Hawai'ian culture, it would be (ironically) a woman who send Kamehameha down the path that would make him king of Hawai'i. She counciled him on how he should conquer the rest of the islands, the best way to keep those islands, and why to unite the islands. It was, indeed, her who supported the wide use of muskets and the advantages of trading with the white man. She arranged the meetings with the British and (later) Americans, and arranged for Isaac Davis and John Young to remain on the islands and train the troops in the use of firearms.

Kaahumanu.jpg

Ka'ahumanu- The King's favorite wife

In 1795 Kamehameha sailed with the largest army the Islands had ever seen -10,000 men carried in 1,200 war canoes. He marched on the neighboring islands of Maui and O'ahu, intent on bringing them under his rule. Quickly seizing control of Maui and Moloka'i, he met fierce resistence from Kalanikupule, the ruler of Pali. Normally, he would have ben able to defeat his enemies rather quickly- but this time it was different. Ka'iana, a high ranking soldier, had deffected and stolen a cannon. Under that cannon fire, Kamehameha's troops took heavy casualties.

In a move that would become famous in the islands, Kamehameha sent two divisions of his best warriors through the mountains to the Pali. They took the cannoners by surprise and snatched them away from Kalanikupule- ensuring his defeat in the coming days.

Despite a number of setbacks, including a rebellion and diseases, Kamehameha finally managed to add the islands of Kaua'i and Ni'ihau to his throne in 1810- finally uniting the Kingdom of Hawai'i.

As king, Kamehameha took several steps to ensure that the islands remained a united realm even after his death. He unified the legal system and he used the products he collected in taxes to promote trade with Europe and the United States. Kamehameha did not allow non-Hawaiians to own land; they would not be able to until the Great Mahele of 1848. This edict ensured the islands' independence even while many of the other islands of the Pacific succumbed to the colonial powers.

Kamehameha finally passed away on May 8th of 1815, with his last words famously being "Endless is the good I have given you to enjoy". Kamehameha was truly the greatest ruler of the Pacific. His son Liholiho became Kamehameha II, and with his mother, continued to guide Hawai'i though another age.

I would advise that you need to defeat Spain, or they will be able to annex you at just about any time. Though, in case you think you will be insecure on land, i have been doing some more diplomatic work.

From Piedmont
To France

After the Napoleonic Wars, France lost most of it's colonies to Britan. The best way to rebuild France's colonial empire is to take Spain's.

From Piedmont
To France, Portugal

My proposal is below.

-France to annex all Spanish colonies
-Portugal to annex Spain
-Piedmont to annex the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies
-Britan to support this alliance or Victor Emanuel I (my leader) will persuade his brother to hand the Jacobin claim to France.

Sorry. I didn't listen well in geography when i was in school- our education is standardized, but that does not mean our people are even literate. They have rejected the offer, and otherwise i would have withdrawn it.

From Piedmont

I was intending to build a colonial empire through dynastic marriage, but it seems that scheme has fallen apart due to my lack of knowledge in geography. How about a dynastic unioun?

OOC: It's a show of strength to try and get Britan on side, thus speeding this war up.

A Cofee Table in Turin:
A group of intellectuals were talking about current events. There were arguments on every side- who was in the right?

"I say that the Kingdom of the Two Siciles in the right- it's defending it's homeland!"
"Come on- what about national identity! Italy needs to be united!"
"Most people are loyal to their home cities anyway- and that would never work!"
"Why- with the mass of the people behind it, everything can work!"
"Maybe with the mass of the people behind it, you'll shut up!"

The argument continued well into the night.

"Can't you see that all Victor Emanuel is doing is imperialistic ambition! Alfonso, Adolfo, you're more sensible then this!"
"Whatever his motives, Alberto, has actions are for the common good!"
"Alfonso, how can forcing someone into something kicking and screaming be for the common good!"
"Adolfo, why do you support schools?"
"I don't!"

At midnight, they left, as Alfonso went home. Well, he'd called himself Alfonso. Following an old king's trick when he wasn't sure what the people thought, he had an alter ego.

"Alfonso", depressed as what they thought, went into the local tavern. He was tired, irrational, and not his usual self. "Time to get drunk."

No. We cannot join such a scheme at this current time.

You're closer to setting up an alliance to destory you than one to destroy anyone else.
