Single Player bugs and crashes v37 plus (SVN) - After the 24th of December 2016

any reason why this is so high in turns, its 3 almost 4 times , the other wonders turns??
I'll correct this today.
Refrigeration should Never obsolete Salt quarry much less smokehouse or icehouse. That to me is a bad decision someone made long ago. I would remove all 3 from the Obsolete section.
I'm not sure about the Smokehouse or Icehouse. Probably you're right and we should be instead diminishing how effective they are with refrigerator bonuses but the refrigerator bonuses should then add a more effective amount to an appliance dealership building that relies on power to function. For now, sure, remove the obsoletion IMO. But we're not done there until we get a lot further down the road with our v39 bonus/buildings discussion and review.

@Thunderbrd ,
Save game from Partisan thread discussions.

City of New Orleans which is located on NE shore of Asoka's mainland. Which is NE of my home island. Partisans are now on a Volcano tile defending east of NO along mountain range. Asoka has sent another Thug into N.O. as well. That makes 5. I just landed a troop transport with City guards and guard dogs to help fight the ever rising crime wave.
I'll take a look as soon as I can - lots happening today so it MIGHT not be as quickly as I want to. Just a question here, the Partisans ARE HN units right? This could all be due to an incomplete project from last version.

And did you notice only 1 AI is in real trouble?
That's truly awesome news!

And did you notice only 1 AI is in real trouble? Wilhelmina had been taking the brunt of Ivan's forces. Darius dragged me into an active war with Ivan thru Defense Pact. All the while I've been selectively feeding Wilhelmina tech to keep her afloat.

Tokugawa is the lurking danger though. So I keep a wary eye to the west.
Very nice, so looks like players will be reaching regularly Industrial/Modern or even later eras on official V38 release :D

It would be funny if you picked up enough research speed to be in late Nanotech era, when they would be in late Information era.
There are some fun units in Nanotech/Transhuman era. :scan::borg:

Playing with rev 9868. One of the more recent updates has broken one of the unique culture units.

I've got the Hurrian culture, which gives me "Teshub Priest". This unit used to have level 3 educate as it's special ability, but that's gone now and the unit is basically just an expensive bard - a quarter more expensive than the normal bard with no special ability. They should basically be the same unit type as the special Sabbatean culture unit "Magos" (which currently works as designed).

I'm certain that this is the case, as I have been planning to build both these units in all my cities, so I could turn my awful education levels around.

Also normal bards are pink, unless you click on them, in which case they turn into scantily clad women?

Savegame included.

I'll have to look but again, an art reference problem is outside my realm. Does it say you're only getting the level 3 educate promo and doesn't ALSO say you're getting the first 2 for free? If so, they'd have it assigned then immediately lose it. That would be simple XML to correct. Have you had the unit before? I'm not able to think of anything that could've caused an adjustment lately to anything there.

Up your BtS Main Graphics setting 1 notch.

I've had the ability to train the unit for several weeks, since researching literacy and was planning to build it and the magos in all cities. They each get three educate levels. Right now the unit is completely useless without any special abilties, so something has been borked.

Mind you, it's been removed at the root level. So when you click on the civiliopedia entry, it no longer states that it's got the three educate levels. The units has simply been reduced to a standard bard.

No, I believe it's either because it's a woman or part of the aforementioned borking of certain units. I've never changed my graphics settings, have built plenty of bards and have never seen them pink before.

The woman was an earlier model. Then it was re-skinned to the "current" Bard. Many time you can fix this by upping the graphics setting 1 notch. Did not say you had changed your settings. But sometimes you have to up it when different modeling is being used.

Nor am I disputing that something has changed with the graphics. We had many problems like this before Sparth started his extensive remodeling and reduction of graphic model sizes and pixel counts (iirc). Different graphics modders used different means and some were found to be better than others. But not all got changed completely.

Toffer perhaps can weigh in on this and shed some better light.

Example at one point players were complaining the Mounted Bear unit was turning into a Knight. Which is the Base Civ IV model that was used to make the bear rider. Once these players upped their graphics setting 1 notch the Bear rider unit re-appeared. You can try it or not your choice completely.

Anyone else want to chime in on this subject? Yeah or nay?
2 yes and 1 conditional yes so far.

Considering that salt was the primary means of trade through most of human history, it really should be worth a whole lot more up untill refrigeration removes the need for it.

I mean the word salary comes from salt... It basically means "salt wage", because soldiers got paid in bags of salt, which they could bring with them everywhere and trade with the locals. Everyone had a use for salt. It was litterally worth it's weight in gold...

Today it's mostly a basic spice, but back in the day it was the primary way of preserving food long-term, the other ways being drying and smoking.

Medieval nations like Hungary and Poland grew strong from their access to major salt mines, while the North Sea peoples undermined whole coastal regions digging out salty turf.

So my suggestion is to massively increase it's worth in game, at least to a level on par with gold and honestly probably more. And then take most of it's importance away with refrigeration.

And don't get me started on the importance of norwegian dried fish in forming the Hanseatic trade league (which grew big on controlling the salt trade btw.)

You should join us in the research request thread for those discussions RE resources and their benefits and how we should include them in the game from both a production and supply side.

Another option to try. In the map screen, select top right (Main Menu), then Options and Graphics. Then deselect "Effects Disabled".

Can not find where Salt Quarry is obsoleted by Refrigeration. Both Smokehouse and Icehouse do. So that screenie of Refrigeration and what it obsoletes has a problem?

Also on the Indigo Farm found this:

Why is Apiary needed for an Indigo farm? Just because it's a flowering plant? Wild bees are not enough? And when does Apiary go Obsolete? (EDIT: answer, it doesn't)

EDIT: Also almost all Flowers in the mod need a vicinity bonus of Flax, then a second vicinity bonus as well. Which can range from Tobacco to Bananas. But the 1st Flax is really restrictive.

Not sure.

Bees are necessary to make the flowers pollinate I guess. Wild bees should be sufficient I'd think.

With the review process we're in, I can see us wanting to change that prerequisite on those. But we haven't really breached the subject of those hard to get restrictive bonus generating buildings Hydro made. Let's leave it until we start covering that ground in discussion. Definitely good to keep in mind here.

It's in Pepper2000Earth_CIV4BuildingInfos.xml. I recommend you to use programs like Textcrawler. You can browse xml files in whole C2C folders at once.

About removing requirement of obsolescence, I'd say Yes.

Sorry I can't commit anything tonight - ran out of time today. Tomorrow's probably going to be pretty pressed as well (laundry sucks but has to be done now and then.) That said, we are really closing in on release here. Once we're 'ready', who will package and publish for us? Joseph? SO? DH?

Is there anything anyone else is going to want included or has on their pre-release must-do agenda?

I'm also needing to update the v37 Player's Guide to v38 and clean up graphic references. And I'd like to collect a change log for folks from SVN notes. I expect all this should be possible BY next weekend, and hopefully won't require much work INTO the weekend to get it completed in full. I guess it depends a little on how long it takes to fix the noted bugs from today. I have the slightest of work to finish my last two actual project goals outside of those bugfixes. And Whisperr is on track to finalizing the art packaging.

Thanks climat.:goodjob:
Keep forgetting to look into the Modules Folder. And NotePad++ will also let you browse all xml folders too. I just don't have much practice at doing it though. My bad.

You hit the nail on the head, I changed the graphics settings and the pink models stabilized. I'll get back to you if the problem comes back.

The Teshub Priest is still broken. I can try and reset the game to an earlier SVN version to lock down when or why the unit was borked. But that takes time, so I'd honestly just prefer if you give it the three educated skills on training, as it had before. As it is now, it's worthless.

Do you have the computer game Patrician (I, II, or III)? It's based on the Hanseatic trade. Can be a fun game.

It's SO's account at Moddb. Are we still too large in size for CFC's download section?
