Started new game, I did not select "combat mod - Fight or Flight", but game plays like it is ON.
Ignore this if you went through the Custom Game screen.

This will probably be because your choice of game options is stored as a string of ones and zeros in the ini file on your machine and a "new game" does not change what is stored there. It assums you want to use what you had in your last game

Three usual possibilities:-
  • you had it on in your last game
  • you played a different mod and have got that mods set of ones and zeros
  • someone changed the order of the game options and has just broken everyone's game
 
There was a game option that you could have replaced as it is not used. When I get back I'll chanege its name to something like "Spare Unused Option" it is "Ecological Animals" at the moment.
In text file its marked as WIP, maybe it was one of @Thunderbrd projects?
 
Crashes happen without autorun too....

Sometimes not even dmp file is left.

I'm not sure if its fault of outdated debug DLL, but it keeps screaming: "Illegal use of Python on background thread"

to 1 helps.... maybe AI is trying to place two group wonders of same group in two cities at once?

Nightmare (and Deity) AIs have extra city on start.

I have 8 GB of ram, so it can't be MAFs.
At least not until I leave solar system :p

58th turn of Blitz Nightmare AI Autoplay and no crash.
WFL, TD, Tech Trading, Tech diffusion and Upscaled Research Costs are active.

Maybe Toffer's python overhaul or recent changes to DLL made multithreading unstable?

I'm tempted to commit this change to define.

There are some of the nif files (3D models) that use some texture files which are not found by the game. It wouldn't cause a crash, at worst it could cause pink 3D models.

The nif files are so jury rigged that there are many cases of records within them saying that "Model: [No model] needs this texture: [path\folder\texture.dds] to be applied nowhere.".
So even pink models might not appear in game, because they are not supposed to be on any visible meshes in the first place.
 
@strategyonly see if this was the reason for your non-repeatable crashes.
Probably it helped - even without Toffer's modmod multithreading probably destabilized game very slightly.
On other hand you can get MAF, if you play long enough without restarting.

Probably it was replaced by newer building.
Or it was obsoleted.

Since buildings are least polished thing in game their prereqs can be all over place or have badly timed obsoletion/replacement of prereqs.

There is indeed a wide interval where Fertility Dance is available but impossible to be built. While Fertility Dance is made obsolete in the industrial era with Women's Suffrage the Childbirth Hut (one of its requirements) is obsoleted in the classical era with Ancient Medicine.

The question is then: should the Childbirth Hut be made obsolete much later (like Childcare Hut that is made obsolete with the modern era technology Consumerism) or should Fertility Dance be made obsolete earlier in the classical era?

I think he or someone else said, that some buildings have their buildings requirements obsoleteing early on purpose, so early cities that managed to get prereq for X building can get X building until X obsoletes much later.
Such design is confusing though.

Mostly because it means that these buildings don't shut down completely - perhaps ever. Other than fortification (where it's especially mentioned) you wouldn't expect such an effect to happen.
 
I'm not sure what's so confusing about being able to construct a building up to a point but then even though you can't construct it afterwards, have it still function for a while.

But yes, it's a DH design.

My preference is to interlink upgrades.
