Single Player bugs and crashes v40 plus (SVN) - After Oct 2019

He's got +25% since you're attacking with a melee unit against a brute. He's of a smaller group volume and getting 20% against you from his Bottleneck 4 promotion, (over what you're getting against him from your Swarm promo). Not completely sure but it looks fairly accurate as it is considering those details.
Yeah but how does 4.5 +10% +25% +20% become 11.47 (+154.89%)? And the larger group has more HP.

ETA: Never mind, since apparently he's getting 120% from Bottleneck

Oh indeed the bottleneck 4 modifier is not shown on the ALT window! Where did the barb got this kind of promo?
Here it is quite significant : my unit is battalion sized, while the barb is squad size (2 lower).
==> my unit (swam 1) gets 2x+10% = +20%
==> barb unit (bottleneck 4) gets 2x+70% = +140% (!!!)

As I understand these bonuses, overall units should get :
my unit : 6 (base strength) +10% (combat 1) +20% (swarm) = 7.8
barb unit : 4.5 (base strenght) + 10% (aggressive) +25% (brute bonus against melee) +140% (bottleneck 4) = 12.375
==> This does not match what is shown on the ALT window

If I follow what is shown on the ALT window, the computation seems to be :
my unit : 6 (base strength) +10% (combat 1) = 6.6
barb unit : 4.5 (base strenght) + 10% (aggressive) +25% (brute bonus against melee) +140% (bottleneck 4 from barb unit) -20% (swarm from my unit) = 11.475
==> This corresponds to what is shown on ALT window

I see 2 issues / questions here :
- bottleneck effect on strenght is not shown in the modifiers list (but swarm is)
- swarm and bottleneck modifiers are not applied the same way (both modifiers are only applied on the defender? no +% bonus for the attacker ?)

I'd say that's a bug.

It has been this way forever, probably back to vanilla

This is actually how combat is really setup with all the modifiers and the display you see is just an easier way to express it to humans, leading to sometimes some really disconnected display vs reality factors and some disagreements in how these things are expressed - some going with the actual way its expressed to the game engine and others going with the breakdown for a person. Either way, the end odds is fairly accurate.

Yes, there are some major bugs here in the help display and every element of the display needs to be audited and cleaned up. Though I can see a player feeling otherwise, this is probably a 2nd level concern rather than many of our 1st level balance and engine bug factors.

That said, I do think it's something I'd like to work on as soon as I start wanting to introduce other modifiers into the picture as it is high time to sort this out. And I have some new modifiers coming up.

I never would have spotted the missing modifier in a usual context (which shows that differences between actual odds and displayed odds is not noticeable), but here this modifier was so significant for the battle it left me speechless (I lost quite a few units to this barb brute, not understanding why). I must confess I am not entirely used to the icons for all promotions (including Size Matters ones), so the ALT window is a big help to identify them!
 
It looks like auto-upgrade on the latest SVN version (v.40.x is really impressive!) has some issues on at least scenario maps (Large Earth Maps with 21 Presets; UEM v.40).

On auto-upgrade (Bug Option | Automation | Automate Upgrade; most experienced) generates as many copies of the unit it tries to upgraded as it can. Between a dozen to about 2000 copies depending on available gold. The good news, all cloned units are upgraded and may only cost as much as the upgrade :)

Can you please check my thread about the Inquisitor?
Long story short - I suddenly (after updating to SVN) lost access to him despite still being Inquisitorial.
And then my newest save CRASHED altogether, when I tried juggling civics around.
Weird beyond words.

I really don't even know WHAT caused it, as in, is it a BUG (error in programming) or a FEATURE (I did something that I don't deem relevant, yet it is).
 
How come the Fog of War keeps going BLACK??, i just got it to be seen then, next turn BLACK again???

So is the latest pull corrupt in this regard?
 
Its not corrupt as far as I know, but it has some bugs related to upgrades (possibly only auto upgrades).
