Sleep, an old thread that got spam-bumped

I sleep about 6h per day, which is too little as far as I'm concerned. But that's mostly my own fault. The kids are big enough that they don't rob my sleep anymore, but I just can't seem to go to bed before midnight. Every morning when the alarm clock rings I swear to myself that today I'll go to bed earlier....but I won't :ack:

But when I do go to bed, I typically sleep very well and deep.

The research abstract was published recently in an online supplement of the journal Sleep and will be presented as a poster Aug. 28-30 during Virtual SLEEP 2020. SLEEP is the annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, a joint venture of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society.
Why is SLEEP call capitalized when it’s not an acronym? That frustrates me! :mad:

Also depends on how you measure these things: black people are more likely to be Baptists, Latinos more likely to be Catholic. Do blacks and Latinos have more difficulty sleeping than whites, i.e. is some relative socioeconomic pressure also applied? One study like this I don’t think can definitively tie religion to sleep.

I used to require at least 8 hours of sleep but for the last couple of years I've been getting 7 and feeling fully rested for the most part. In between needing 8 hours and 7, I lost a bunch of weight and basically stopped drinking so I guess my sleep is more restful now than before or something. I just know that before, if I didn't get at least 8 hours I was miserable but now I have a hard time sleeping more than 7 even when I want to. If I don't take benadryl or nyquil then it just doesn't happen, basically.

5:52 AM here. Sun’s up, I’m up. Both too early.

I’m going to try to go back to bed. What a pain!

It's only 3:00 in the afternoon on your yesterday in NM. Lots of daylight left.

I used to sleep bad, many days I was waking up as I had no sleeped.
Its going to 3 months in a row, on which I am sleeping pretty well.
Factors that have influence on me:
-Hours of sleep:
-> Less than 7, bad
-> Between 7 and 8, maybe ok, maybe bad
-> More than 8, probably OK
* Consideration, I have to wake up at 7 AM if I work from home, 6:30 AM if I got to go to office.
-Dinner:
-> Heavy Dinner: Bad
-> Going to bed just after dinner: Bad
* Consideration: Where I live is common having dinner later than 21:00 or 22:00.

If I have dinner later than 22:00 I do know that next day I will be really tired, because this means that I will go to bed just after dinner or that I will sleep less hours.
So, I have changed habits. Now I am having a light dinner about 20:30. After dinner I have time to watch a tv show or even having a short walk and by 22:00 I am on bed, depending on if I am tired or not, I read until 22:30 or 23:00, they will be about 8 hours sleeping.

Wait, what? Two new people join the site and each immediately posts in a two-and-a-half-year-dead thread?

Anyway, welcome you two. Rolan, I try to get a 20 minute nap every day. I guess you could say it's in my gaming chair, since it's in my everything chair.

And the two spammers were banned....dozing off in the afternoon is time honored tradition.
