Stupid In America

I disagree. I think the purpose of school is to have fun.

Sadly, I think it mostly fails.

Learning about improving societies is nice and all but it is all opinion, people have different ideas about what an improvement is, and a teacher opinions or the even the department of education's opinions are not that important to me

How about stuff that isn't centered around the individual? Like improving our societies and the world?

Every socioety consists of individuals, and one of the most important steps to improve society is to make sure they aren't ignorant dicks.
That should be the aim of education.

I'm more worried about this. Now that's appalling.
I'll assume you go to MWHS.

You have no idea...
Sports are everything here.
If you can kick a ball into a net, they will gladly hand you a 100% scholarship to a private school which would otherwise require you to be at the top of your class academically.

Its not about fixing stuff its about stopping it from getting worse.

The problem with that is that if it is not fixed, conditions will get worse. Because it is so broken now that there's no hope for it.

Have you ever thought that a bad public education system is intentional?

Uneducated people don't question authority. And they care less about facts.
The american school system is rigged to create republican voters!

No wonder the young are the Republican's strongest base.

admit it!
if you're not one of those rich corporate bastards then you'd have to be an idiot to vote for the republican party.

Of course it's intentional. But it's not made to make Republican voters so much as it is to just keep the poor poor, particularly if they are colored.

But this is just a silly thing to do.

This is like a capitalist happy to keep his workers poor. Instead of ensuring that they have sufficient resources to buy his and his fellow capitalist's products - stimulating growth and making said capitalist even richer. What's not to like?

It's zero-sum-game. Any one person doing it can make themselves better off at the expense of others. If everyone does it, then everyone is worse off.

They see it as a zero-sum game. If they grant a higher wage to a worker then that means a lower share price and a worse compensation package.

The US doesn't have a healthy capitalism any more.

If you want to argue that there is a problem with labor's leverage, make the argument.

If not, explain how you want things to work.
