Well, I guess the believing that Jesus is your lord and saviour is the easy part.

The trying to live according to his spiritual teachings seems to be the more elusive. Since there are many people claiming to do just that, and they have all kinds of different opinions on what those teachings mean.

Well, here goes.

Trouble is with the lord and saviour bit, see, I don't feel the need to be saved. Not at all. Now, I can't say I'm anywhere near perfect, far from it. But then neither am I all out evil. (Though some poster(s) here tell me I am. Well just evil, anyway.)

But certainly I have no hope of heaven nor fear of hell. So on this account, I clearly seem to fail.

Can I be honest enough to judge my own Christianityness based on my behaviour or on what I intend?

See, on this I fail too. Clearly I'm pretty much, usually, well disposed to other people (in that I don't try to cheat people or make them feel bad on purpose) but that can't be all there is to it. Far from it.

I need more instructions to make further headway.

Let's just conclude I'm not one. That'll save time.

I get a real kick out of the incessant "real Christian" claims by many whom I would characterize as not even trying to be "real Christians" themselves. These individuals expect to be forgiven for all their own sins, so they don't seem to phase them one bit.

There's really not. It's just another one of those things people use to demonize and dehumanize their opponents because they don't want to debate the issues. As in: "No real Christian could possibly allow abortion or gay marriage, but it's perfectly OK for a real Christian to cut off the food to hungry children and throw families out on the street to pay for another tax break for those camels that really can get through the eye of a needle."

The PRC has a rather rocky relationship with established churches, so a lot of Chinese Christians are pretty hardcore.
