The Impressions of NESing

Here are my impressions. Most people should be on here.

In alphabetical order:

#1 Person: A competent NESer. Has a habit of starting grandiose projects involving entire websites and multiple maps that die very quickly.

adherence: One of the best new NESers, in my opinion. His orders can sometimes be maddening, but they do have lots of detail.

alex994: Linked more to Rome than China in my mind, but obviously the Chinese fanatic. Has a habit of waiting until the last minute to send orders. Asks WAY too many questions--he's probably accounted for half the PMs pertaining to JalNES.

Amenhotep7: Long gone, but had a great WWI NES that was really long for a NES in the days before the NES II series.

Amirsan: I think he's disappeared, but way back he was the mod of my first NES.

andis-1: Hedgehogs. And world domination. He's a great tactician, and makes very helpful maps.

Azale: Always quits my NES after one or two turns. :(

Azash: Is he still around? Haven't seen him for a while. Regardless, a great ally in LINES I with a very unique nation, and funny stories.

BananaLee: Hong Kong and penguins. That's all, since I haven't played with him.

Birdjaguar: Also one of the best new NESers. Is great at finding research to back up his detailed tactics and espionage. Still a little too credulous, but that will change... oh, and I almost forgot to mention the awesome poetry!

Captain2: One of the tide of new NESers I don't know.

Capulet: From what I hear, a good tactician, but I never really played with him.

carmen510: A new NESer, known for outstandingly bad orders, apparently. :p

Cleric: Only into modern/future NESes, preferably involving chemical warfare.

Contempt: Mongols and Lengels. Strikes a very tough bargain, but obeys his agreements once they're made.

Cuivienen: One of the few female NESers, Tolkien addict, and mod of two really awesome NESes that died from her lack of free time. :(

Dachspmg: Roman fanatic. Always includes his troop placements in his orders, which I like. Not afraid to overthrow his own nation.

Daftpanzer: The outsider with the legendary past in S+T who revolutionizes NESing with his awesome, original NESes and amazing maps made in Flash. Also has a zeal for the surreal.

das: NES II. ITNES. Polar bears. (Grand)father of NESing. Doesn't kill NESes, ever. Need I say more?

Disenfrancised: Great mod, who gives his sections in updates their own titles. Now if only he'd update...

Drake Rlugia: Not much comes to mind. :( I believe he tried to mod a few NESes, which were good while they lasted...

Dreadnought: Unfortunately, can't think of much. Sorry. You're a good NESer.

emu: Abrupt to the point of rudeness, but my LINES II experience wouldn't be the same without him.

EQandcivfanatic: Modded the amazing RTOR2, and is haunted by it to this day, unable ever to have something else anywhere as successful.

erez87: Doesn't like to PM his orders.

Erik Mesoy: Probably the only NESer nerdier than I am, and that's a good thing. Programmer and meta-gamer. And he was the one who modded the stock market NES which I did so well in...

Fëanor: Old-time NESer. One of the Finns.

Finmaster: Another Finn, who modded nostalgic NESes that I could never get into but everyone else seemed to.

Gelion: Modded a modern NES. Another Finn, I believe, or at least a Scandinavian.

Harleqin: One of the oldest NESers (in terms of age, not years NESing). Mods the second-longest lasting random map NES.

Icmancin: Modder of not terribly accurate but still amusing althistories.

Imago: Newbie who jumped onto the scene with his NES and is still going strong.

Insane_Panda: France. Plays to win.

Israelite9191: A fellow participant in Model United Nations. Is obsessed with detail in his updates. I wish that NES hadn't died; Calpe was one of my favorite nation ideas...

jalapeno_dude: God incarnate, clearly. :p

Jason The King: Is he still around? Like EQ, an old-timer who hasn't been able to live up to stJNES4 and 5 ever again.

josefstalinator: I haven't played with him at all, but I do remember him as Fascist Spain in GoobNES taking over most of Europe, and harnassing the pope for his own ends...

justokre: Newcomer with an ambitous random map NES, which unfortunately died.

j_eps: New NESer who thinks I'm lazy.

Kal'thzar: Sparta. Says "can't be assed" a lot. Had an interesting pseudo-IT/BT NES that ran on and off for months.

Kamilian: No one who was in stKNES5 will deny that it was awesome. And it lasted, too. Back in RTOR2, in the days of on-thread orders, his were among the most detailed.

Kentharu: Cookies and gnomes! Always on at very late hours of the night. Has a tendency to quit abruptly.

KrimzonStriker: A great ally in DNES2, at least before the BT... For some reason, insists on emailing maps rather than PMing them.

LittleBoots: Classics major, or a potential classics major. Eire/Eirehann has been one of the defining nations of JalNES. Impressed me when he was new by learning very quickly to write good orders.

Lord_Iggy: Penguins! LINES was what hooked me into NESing for good, and LINESII hasn't made me likely to leave. And the collapse of his Persian/Medean/Ottoman nations, while seemingly inevitable, is always fun to watch and write about.

Luckymoose: In my mind, will never be able to live down setting his troops on fire as Carthage. But he's gotten better since then.

MjM: Got banned a lot. Had a random map NES. I think he disappeared.

Neverwonagame2: Sends nearly incoherent orders.

North King: If NESing were a Shakespeare play, he would be the tragic hero. :p Gave me advice when I started modding. I always get all worked up about his NESes, only to get let down when they fold. Speaking of which, what would have happened to Minoa?

Reno: Tarunists and summoning mods. Seems like a nice guy. Another Finn.

Sheep: One of the oldest (in age) NESers. Has a kid and is a succesful entrepeneur, if he can be believed. Has been really successful in ITNES, but not so much in modding.

Silver Steak: While I didn't ever feel happy in SSNES, it was certainly an interesting experience. Hopefully he'll mod again soon. And I finally passed him in postcount, which made me happy.

silver_2039: Agressive, reckless genocider. NESing wouldn't be the same without him.

stalin006: Oldtimer, obsessed with WWI Germany and nuking the world. Not to be trifled with.

Stormbringer: FK and Russia/USSR. Writes stories which are long and involved but worth the read. I hope he comes back and continues modding.

Swissempire: A little insane....

Symphony D.: The most detail and system-oriented NESer, except possibly for Erik. Never afraid to get down to the nuts and bolts, and debate them. I've immensely enjoyed the discussions about ANES01 and its rules, probably more so than the actual NES.

TerrisH: Peacemonger and quick order sender.

The Farow: A great NESer who should really update his NES rather than read this. :p

Thlayli: Forever linked in my mind with Veritas, inextricably linked with Eldrania in behavior, religon, and survival. Writes epic story arcs which are great fun to read. And, of course, proponent of the infamous NAO, which luckily has so far been absent in JalNES.

tossi: I have great respect for him. Always seems to get picked on in NESes, but is a good player.

Warman17: Red Alert NES. Amazing.

Wubba360: Not really new anymore, but he was considered one of the best newbies.

~Darkening~: Either he's planning on a really high level, or he's making it up as he goes along. :p

Peoples impressions of other NESers is far more interesting than keeping a point scoring system and because it is more story-like, it is closer in spirit to the games.

Is that good or bad:hmm:

Yay! I'm a proud question asker! And the whole Rome thing, isn't Rome a defining nation in your nes? And the sending orders at the last minute is a symbol of how hard I work :)

I am update but I lack the motivation during the week to get it rolling. I promise it will come Friday with stats and everything.

I should write a list of my impressions of other NESers from a newer players standpoint... Maybe not since I am too lazy at the moment :)

Yay for being forgotten!
I didn't forget you, but I honestly couldn't think of anything to say about you. Actually, now that I think of it...I added an impression in.

@Swissempire: That's for you to decide.

@Swissempire: That's for you to decide.

You left out the part where I nuked, gassed, smallpox'd, and generally genocided 4-5 million muslims (soldiers, god knows what in civilian population) in the Great North African war ;)

Oh, and there were the Confederacy's people farms... or the Occitan's slave factories...

Lord_Iggy: Penguins! LINES was what hooked me into NESing for good, and LINESII hasn't made me likely to leave. And the collapse of his Persian/Medean/Ottoman nations, while seemingly inevitable, is always fun to watch and write about.

Ah-ah-ah-ah- I've never been destroyed as the Persians. :p

And isn't Gelion a Russian who's living in Switzerland?

Yay for not mentioning my occasional complaints :p Then again, sadly, they only really happen in jalNES, but you'll notice I'm still chugging away ;)

As a reward for your successful flattery, I will admit that Classics is a part of my Franken-major, but sadly the only thing you can really do with a Classics major is become a Classics professor and continue the vicious cycle. My other interests and therefore other parts of my major include: Economics, Linguistics, Philosophy, History, and probably most importantly Political Science (all these things combined into a "Pre-Law" focus). I don't really like math (betcha saw that coming), but Biology and Physics are very interesting and I don't mind the math that goes with physics. Linguistics will be a minor portion, as I will likely only be taking Spanish, Greek, and Latin (my girlfriend, another Franken-major, is a Linguistics/Psychology major and has to take many more than that). History will also, sadly, mostly be elective type stuff, simply because I need to fill that time with other constructive things conducive to membership in Phi Beta Kappa.

As for my university, which you asked about in another thread, I shall give you two hints: my major is officially called "University Scholars" and it is possible to get a full ride here for high scores on the PSAT, although that may be changing soon. There's one more hint, but it would give it away too easily :p

Look how narcissistic I am. As if anyone actually cares about any of that. However, I believe JD was actually interested in at least some of that and it was all directed at him, so I refuse to accept complaints from any of you for going on and on about myself ;)

Finally, to end on an altruistic note, I believe that The Strategos deserves mention. His stories are some of my favourites on the boards. Also, I've talked with JosefStalinator a fair bit OOC on AIM and I think he's A-Okay ;) Just so you don't feel so unloved, Joe

Tis true, 'tis true... :(

Classics is probably an unfortunate choice for me--I have very little desire to become a professor (I find writing in large quantities quite painful)--but I think that's the way I'm headed.

I don't play to win! I am offended, horribly offended at such a comment!

I play to ensure the best for my given nation - if that means annexing everyone, including allies, one by one, then thats the way the ball will be rolled! ;)

I shudder when you say annex. It's like a child's toy to you.

Such shameless flattery. :p I guess I'll let it be known I'm slowly working on something.

Dunno about Switzerland, but he is at the very least Russian.

Considering nothing's started yet, I should hope so! :p

Yes, das, you are quite the little scheming byzantine!

Says the Basileus of the Romanoi, in one of their stronger incarnations. ;)

A rather amiable and funny robot

That's the camouflage - his true merciless robotic nature still does show through sometimes. Human lives aren't all that big a loss, but I still shudder at his cold-blooded torture of althistorical continuity in DisNES II. :p

Some random comments:

His orders can sometimes be maddening, but they do have lots of detail.

The latter assures the former, in most cases, though I don't recall him in any of my NESes, alas...

Linked more to Rome than China in my mind, but obviously the Chinese fanatic.

As of late, I begun to associate him more with Carthage for some reason...

Has a habit of waiting until the last minute to send orders.

If only he was the only one!

And world domination.

Actually, andis doesn't strike me as a world conqueror... If we were to do historical associations again, I'd say that in virtually all regards he is most similar to Friedrich II the Great.

Doesn't kill NESes, ever.

I did kill NES2 IV, in the NES2 series. And lots of early NESes too...

Gelion: Modded a modern NES. Another Finn, I believe, or at least a Scandinavian.

A bit ironic, the Finn bit...

Plays to win.

...must...resist...

probably more so than the actual NES.

Preemptive, aren't we?

You blame plenty enough on your silly Polar Bears and Penguins and Pandas and Otters that I should not even be required to invoke the fantastical to wave off anything I do that's out of place. :p

As for me being a robot, don't speak such nonsense! Now, give me your GPS coordinates so I might deliver some packages to your domiciles. From orbiting weapons satellites...

Only as Spain and the Byzantine Republic...;)
