Ah, yes. It has been so long- I used to be a complete military aircraft freak. I knew pretty much ever plane their was and any missile each one carried but my interest sort of faded. It's all starting to come back to me now, though. The 'Blinder' has the two engines in the back, and the 'Backfire' has the side engines. For some odd reason, the 'Blinder' reminds me of the An-74.

The A-10's official nick was "Thunderbolt II", after WWII's P-47. Everyone affectionately called it the "Warthog" though.

It and the Soviet Su-25 were specifically designed CAS aircraft. Un-sleek, slow for a jet, can't dogfight at all, but can carry enough munitions to wipe out a small base, and armored enough to ignore most gunfire coming from the ground. That smug feeling you get from being inside inches of tank armor evaporates instantly the moment you see one of these (or an attack chopper) heading your way.

And there's a Kiev-class carrier, the Minsk, parked here in Shenzhen. It's been converted into the centerpiece of a war machine theme park. Lots of older Soviet military hardware there - MiGs, Sukhois, Hinds, T-55s...

Colonel, the Missouri wasn´t the biggest battleship ever made. Yamato and Musashi were bigger. Then indeed it was the Iowa class and then Tirpitz and Bismarck. Both were German ships and didn´t have a HMS in front of her names. Although the RN would have been glad to have these ships.
