Years 1-3 ‘Week 0.5’ Update 1: A Native’s View of the Temporal Gyre
Also Known As: The Joy of Murzim, The Confusion of the Explorer, The High Price for Slugoccinos and Why You Should Buy One
“Sup! I am President Rance’s intern/secretary thing, and just so you know, de knows a lot more than de lets on! I will keep this journal during our age of expansion, and the hope that finally, we can end our overpopulation problem. In hopes that this will be published: Enjoy!”
Everyone’s economy booms. There must be some kind of law: When native civilizations finally perfect the ability to control their FTL travel to average around a light year every two years or when other galaxies send colonial ships which are reverse-engineered, there will always be an economic boom. Some say it is the pent-up demand for more resources and the liberalism of an expanding frontier, others say that people simply kept putting capital into investment banks, who settle more systems, who raise more capital so that even more people have money to invest. All that I know is that this is happening now, and I heard rumors from some extra-clusterial states that it has happened millions of times over the galaxy.
Local Events
We, of course, entered our own economic boom. So did everyone else. However, more important is our expansion.
When Rance first got elected, he put everything into upgrading the then top-of-the-line fleets with more and more, newer and newer jump engines. Then our state was a dying one, with our population eating food grown centuries ago and a government too weak to enforce control.
We had a breakthrough: our ships surged through the six pain-stakenly colonized systems and placed our staffs on a dozen more. Food production is skyrocketing with the discovering of bountiful resources. Populations is becoming ever less dense as they spread throughout our new systems.
We also signed various deals with His Majesty’s Denebolan Empire of Benefactor and the enigmatic Explorer to ensure peace. There will some miscommunication snafus here and there, but peace prevailed in the first FTL rotation of the Temporal Gyre.
Clusterial News
Economies Boom, militaries expand, colonys settled. Some do it for the fame, the money or the glory. Other are simply desperate for resources, enlightenment or space within space. Some are even from another galaxy all together! So far nothing interesting came through the Rumornet and the Tell-a-doman: This is as far as we know: The Council of Murzim extends a hand of peace and prosperity, with the strongest economy and a stable military. The Aikenauts follow closeby with a comparably economy and a decayed fleet. The Ascendency, lead by the mysterious but friendly Raku, earned much with their exorbitantly priced- but completely worth it- slugoccinos. Important technological advances are completed by the Polaris Consortium, The Esoterium, The Order of Phact, Denebolan Empire, and the Matt Empire, while The Consortium, Ascendancy, Phact, and Denebolan Empire lead the way in the neo-industrial era. Esoterium continues to be enigmatic.
