Why did you build Utica?
The Incan elephants there means that the Andean pass has been opened[which happens with the arrival of the conquerors]. I guess the Easterners paid a visit either before 1300 or the Incans fought them back. And the Ethiopia is crazy.
BTW, which civ are you?
I was first looking for some confusion in that pic
I'll go out on a limb here and say that it was to speed up the circumnavigation of the globe. A Trireme can be waiting in a city in New Zealand and instantly upgraded upon learning Optics, and can then head east to meet up with a westward-bound Caravel that leaves from Europe at the same time.
0/3 In 1685AD, probably this wasn't the poster's reason.
Dumb ai, brought 2 stacks of units:
First stack has 4 workers, 2 settlers
Second stack has 1 settler, 1 musketman
Because New Zealand's awesome. Just not as awesome as Armenia.
and also because i was so tired and didnt i really care what i did
what do you expect its the portuguese
Spain and the Vikings conquering England.
Portugal managed to bring one frigate to the Black Sea. And no, they didn't control Tabriz, that was Turk.
That's the Caspian... did they have Khurasan for some reason? Otherwise I'm stumped...
that's the only non-bug/wb way I can see that happening.
It is possible to get there with a fort in stead of a mine on the iron, but since it's next to Trabzon it is unlikely that the AI builds a fort there, it only does to catch resources outside of BFC's. Even then the Portuguese somehow had to have open borders with the Ottomans, so they had to be involved in a mutual war at some point. I don't know if it's possible to build ships in Khurasan.
What if Portugal had OB with Ottomans and Persia, then if they had a frigate in the Black Sea then when Ottomans collapsed they'd maybe go to the nearest friendly tile... in the Caspian?
Yeah, the Black Sea is the one at the left, sorry. :suicide:
Khurasan was also Turk.
The Frigate was probably in the Eastern Black Sea when the Ottomans collapsed or canceled OB and the ship got teleported to the Caspian instead of going somewhere logical like the Med. That's the only way I can makes sense of it.
Sorry for my pictures being bad quality, but as Turkey my culture spread into this German plot which happened to have iron , no iron for you, Germany.
Nerf Turkish culture.
Don't you hate it when Ottomans capture a seemingly insignificant city near your borders and then it suddenly expands with more culture than it should reasonably have, taking away your resources and crippling production? I sure do. Even better if resources taken away are those that the new Ottoman city cannot even access (such as that iron).
Simple solution: play as the Ottomans!
What happened was that I captured a german city on the horse, then razed it, then his culture to converted into my culture, in which this case i snagged his iron
only to lose it 5 turns later
