Trek weapons are simply boring. Blasters are inaccurate, but that makes it fun. Trek tries to make all of these supposively strong races, yet they are all boring. Trek doesn't have the battles Wars can have, and Wars has killer video games. Bounty Hunter, Rogue Squadron, Battlefront (I and II), and Empire at War are some examples that I have played. I haven't played KotOR or some others, but I heard they were good games as well. I liked the pod racer game, too.

I don't even know who Khan is, nor do I care.

Edit: I forgot Shadows of the Empire. I loved that game.

Therefore, Wars has a larger variety of weapons (As well as the best melee weapon ever,) but Trek's fewer weapons are each better. (Wars has quantity, Trek has quality.)

This thread is supposed to be about your appretiation of either as a piece of media, a means of entertainment. If you want to make this into a little crossover battle, you're about 10 years too late. Far more diligent and more qualified Nerds and Fans than you have already gone over the material at hand, and Wars to show off far greater capability in terms of military power. Feel free to look up the last thread on the subject, it referenced a lot of the established work on the subject.

If you're going to talk here, discuss characters, plot, visual presentation, themes, but don't make this about firepower.

This is really a poll of Sci-Fi vs Action movies...

Ding ding ding. Star Wars, while containing sci-fi elements, is an action-adventure. Star Trek is a Sci Fi series that has epic moments, and boring day to day moments.

Alright then, my bad. Trek in my mind has better characters, for one example, I just can't stand the ep. 2-3 Anakin. I understand that some people just love him, but I can't get over his "everyone hates me, so I must kill everyone" attitude. Trek, to my knowledge, and only considering what I consider "True" Trek, (TOS, TNG, and the movies,) has never really had a main character the displays quite this level of psycopathy. Solely because I cannot "bond" with the main character, I cannot really enjoy eps. 2 and 3. I can't even sit though all but the last 45 mins of 2 anymore, and while 3 in my mind is better, I still find myself drifting off during the anakin sequences. I know he has to turn evil to become vader by ep 4, but still, the "new" anakin has become so loathed in my mind that I was furious with lucas when I found out he had switched anakins for the ep. 6 remake. I can no longer watch the ending of that movie either, all because of one character....sad, really....

Trekkies FTW!

Star Wars... better weapons, better aliens, better villians, better storyline, better music, better looking women, better toys... better religion ;)

Ewoks can't verve-pinch, mindmeld, aren't klingons (need I say more on that subject?) and fight with sticks. And, seriously, do you honestly think that Ewoks could have beaten Khan? On top of that, star wars weapon wise, you have:

The Lightsaber: Sweet weapon, but completely impossible to do the physics.

The Blaster: Stinks, low accuracy, no different settings (except for a stun that we see...what...once?), and for the most part, low powered.

Thermal Detonaters: Fancy, shiny grenades.

Proton Torpedos: Ok, but low powered by my standards.

And, may I say, the Shields never seem to work. EVER.

Star Trek weapon wise, we have:

The Phaser: Huge flexiblity, can control blast power, settings include stun...kill...vaporize...heat...and more, high accuracy. Also scientifically possible, as it is directed energy. (And the DoD currently is working on a prototype.)

The Photon Torpedo: More powerful than any nuclear weapon ever built or capable of being built to this day, homing tracking...with the ability to hit a cloaked target.

Therefore, Wars has a larger variety of weapons (As well as the best melee weapon ever,) but Trek's fewer weapons are each better. (Wars has quantity, Trek has quality.)

Star wars weapons are much better than the Star Trek weapons. But that's okay, because Star Wars ripped off Star Trek ;)

They both suck to a certain degree. :p
But SW has much more intresting parts than StarTrek.

And yes, Stargate is cool too. :)

I think it is true that Star Wars got some inspiration from Star Trek. Star Trek came first though, so it is more of a classic I believe. Thats not to say Star Wars isn't a classic though. ;)
