Which do you like better, Star Trek or Star Wars?

There was quite a discussion about this a year and a half ago, back than I said Star Wars all the way and we argued over Federation fighting the Empire and so-on. Now I like both for what they are.

Star Trek is way too boring. Star Wars is action packed with great characters like Solo, Obi-Wan, Vader, Windu, the Fetts, R2, Maul, and of course Yoda.

It isn't even a contest.

Yeah, but it has incredibly terrible characters too. Star Trek has no charaters that are entirely horrible by all accounts.

Edit: Actually WTH, most of the above characters part of the time sucked, the only character that were uniformly great was Solo.

Hum ... Harrison Ford was the only actor to succeed professionally after Star Wars. Wonder if there is a connection ...

I would say Star Wars, but I not really watch much Trek admittedly.

star wars star wars

I have never seen a single Star Trek episode (and I don't want to), and I thought Star Wars was a horrible piece of crap.

If it has aliens, dragons, elfs, spaceships and co I don't like it. That's my movie and book policy.

that depends on who you ask, Hamil(Hammil?) is on some shows with large cult followings and has appeared in other good movies.

Star Wars.

Dang, $1.50 for Time Magazine.

Kirk > Solo

Trek covers WAY more ground, politically, socially and philosophically, than the bland "good vs. evil" of star wars. Star Wars is for the simple minded and the votes prove this :mischief:.

Star Trek! Star Trek! Star Trek! Star Trek! Star Trek! Star Trek! TOS FTW!!!

Come on, could Luke EVER have defeated Khan? Could Anakin EVER have beaten General Chang?

And just think about the firepower! A 2 kilogram antimatter bomb (much smaller than a photon torpedo,) contains more explosive power than ANY nuclear device ever constructed. (Found that somewhere on wikipedia, I think it was in the antimatter article, and no, that's NOT star trek given numbers, that's phyisist given numbers...)

Are you serious? Nothing is more boring than a Star Trek character. Lets stand on a bridge and talk a lot... or lets go to a hologram past and go through one or two crummy action sequences.

I will now unrefutably prove that Trek is better that Wars.

One word: Ewoks

As pathetic as they are, Ewoks still beat out any Trek species. At least they don't stand around talking, and they know how to party, too.

Star Wars by far.

I voted Star trek here, mainly because there is much more available and to contradict what I said in the last thread about this. Kinda boiled down to this from what I've seen-

New Hope- great
Empire Strikes back- fantastic
return of the Jedi- good
Phantom Menance- Look at jar-jar
Clones- good
Revenge of the Sith- good
Those cartoons between Clones & Revenge of the Sith- okay
vs
Wrath of KHAAAAN- great
4th movie/whale (Voyage home?)-good
First Contact- great
TNG series (good/great overall)
Original series (good overall)
Voyager (good overall)
Great individual episodes & two parters such as City on edge of forever, Locutis (sp), etc

Came to conclusion that Star trek is better but Star Wars w/ everything together, but Star Wars's quality would be better if acouple things, namely jar-jar and ewoks, didn't come about.

Star trek>Star Wars>teletubbies>Stargate

Ewoks can't verve-pinch, mindmeld, aren't klingons (need I say more on that subject?) and fight with sticks. And, seriously, do you honestly think that Ewoks could have beaten Khan? On top of that, star wars weapon wise, you have:

The Lightsaber: Sweet weapon, but completely impossible to do the physics.

The Blaster: Stinks, low accuracy, no different settings (except for a stun that we see...what...once?), and for the most part, low powered.

Thermal Detonaters: Fancy, shiny grenades.

Proton Torpedos: Ok, but low powered by my standards.

And, may I say, the Shields never seem to work. EVER.

Star Trek weapon wise, we have:

The Phaser: Huge flexiblity, can control blast power, settings include stun...kill...vaporize...heat...and more, high accuracy. Also scientifically possible, as it is directed energy. (And the DoD currently is working on a prototype.)

The Photon Torpedo: More powerful than any nuclear weapon ever built or capable of being built to this day, homing tracking...with the ability to hit a cloaked target.

Therefore, Wars has a larger variety of weapons (As well as the best melee weapon ever,) but Trek's fewer weapons are each better. (Wars has quantity, Trek has quality.)
