1 day to 25,550 days would be..... about 3+

1000 days would be 10 to the 3rd
a million 10 to the 6th

Orders of magnitude is just powers?

Orders of magnitude is just powers?
In my example I believe they are the same.

The math behind it all is more complicated, but I think, one order of magnitude higher is 10x.

1 = OoM 0
10 = 1
100 = 2
1000 = 3

OK, let's start with the definition:

The class of scale or magnitude of any amount, where each class contains values of a fixed ratio (most often 10) to the class preceding it. For example, something that is 2 orders of magnitude larger is 100 times larger, something that is 3 orders of magnitude larger is 1000 times larger, and something that is 6 orders of magnitude larger is a million times larger, because 10² = 100, 10³ = 1000, and 10⁶ = a million.

Ok, so I turn my starting value into a 10. Half a day at 10 hours is close enough for my purposes.

So, first order of magnitude is 100 hours, 50 days
My second is 1000 hours, 500 days
My third order of magnitude is 10,000 hours, 5000 days
A fourth order of magnitude would be 100,000 hours 50,000 days

And the 25,000 days of 70 years falls in between that 5000 and the 50,000 days.

Thanks

Yes, ~ 3+ OoM :D

I don't understand what your intended calculation is, nor its purpose.

You don't want to know.

I have a good question:
Darling you got to let me know: Should I stay or should I go?

If you go, there will be trouble. But if you stay, it will be double...

How would you pronounce, if you were going to say it, the e-mail prefix re: ?

It derives from the word "regarding," so "ree"? but I think I've heard people say "ray."

If you say ‘ray’ it sounds as if the original word were not ‘regarding’ but ‘ray-guarding’.

But 'Muricans mutilate words such as ‘ballet’ (→ ballay) so who knows.

It's better for my poem if it's "ree." (not a rhyme, but I'm playing with the ee sound.) Google's dictionary gives both pronunciations. On online pronunciation site gives ray.

I"m asking here for a reason. Again, the first th-ree answers I've received are more conducive to my poem than the stuff I encountered on line.

Don't you mean ‘online-ee’?

I say the letters individually, if I'm saying the shorthand out loud for whatever reason.

Of the two options, I'd be inclined to say ree and not ray.
