Well, I'm not standing for it. This will be my last post in the thread, and probably my last ever contribution to CFC mafia, which, let's face it, was never much cop in the first place and is now become a barren wasteland of tired cliches and half-arsed self-referential 'humour'. And I've been down there with the worst of it. Well, no more I tell you. This is now, and I'm drawing the line here. Someone needs to take a stand, and if the fates have chosen me for this task, then who am I to spurn the call of history, to reject the vocation to which I have been called, or to cast aside the burden upon which my broad shoulders have been cast. There comes a time and a place and a time when a man must call down the righteous fires of judgement upon the failings of his fellows. And I am that man, and this is that time and that place and that time, and you all are those fellows of mine upon whose failings I - being that man - must - in this time and this place and this time - call down the righteous fires of judgement. Only then, in the cool afterglow of the cleansing apocalypse, might there emerge a better, stronger, cleaner forum in which references to long-departed posters of negligible contribution or ancient in-jokes that weren't remotely funny in the first place can be replaced by the white-hot collision of high-energy minds in the most elevated of intellectual contests. In which game set-ups will be at least vaguely coherent and - yes - perhaps even incorporate some notion of balance so that the winners might know they have triumphed by their own efforts, rather than by the vagaries of some trumped-up, power-tripping 'host' whose only desire is to watch the 'players' dance for his own sordid entertainment. In which no player should ever again face the injustice of suffering a humiliating defeat solely because a GM wanted to try out a 'new mechanic' which even a chimp could have seen was never going to work.

Let us unite, brothers (and the occasional sister), and come together, speaking in one voice to say loud and clear: "No! We shall not stand for our own nonsense any more. Every one of us is judged and all are found wanting. The time for change is now, and we shall be the ones to wreak that change, and we shall do so by stopping playing this silly game and going and doing something more productive with our lives so that this forum might be repopulated with better, stronger, cleaner players, who might succeed where we all have failed so egregiously."
