The hygiene thing is somewhat true in places with poor hygiene.

Of course, the issue then is that you can't do a proper circumcision in places with poor hygiene. Botched jobs are relatively common in the luxury of the West with sterile environments and "better" education for the doctors. I can't imagine there'd be a statistically significant improvement in STDs and genital hygiene in a country with poor standards and inferior healthcare.

If I remember right, most cultures that developed in places with blown fine sand practiced male circumcision at some point. Apparently fine sand getting beneath the foreskin is particularly painful.

Are you sure? This doesn't sound right to me. If only the baby can consent to a circumcision, then it follows that a baby's consent is needed for any operation.

From what I read, it's not so much the consent issue that's allowing the lawsuits to be successful, but rather some recent research that seems to indicate circumcision may cause lasting psychological issues including PTSD and intimacy/relationship building issues. Apparently people out there (including some judges) believe doctors should be on the hook for that damage.

I've also seen that there is an actual movement that seeks to not only have the procedure made illegal, but to have "victims" receive reparations from the government.

First you need to set up the international keyboard. To do that you search for Language Settings in the start menu. Under Preferred Languages, click on English (United States) then click on Options. In the next screen click on Add a keyboard and scroll down until you find United States-International. After that you're all set up and can toggle between keyboard setups in the lower right part of the screen on the taskbar. Then to actually be able to type characters, this is a handy cheat sheet on the specific key combinations.

My computer is convinced that my preferred default is the French-Canadian keyboard. This makes many English words and contractions impossible, as I have yet to figure out how that works. I then have to manually change my keyboard to English - US.

It's like the makers of Windows 10 assume that everyone in Canada speaks and types in French...

I looked up once what there is regarding the evidence of the STD claims, and there seems to be some support, but not exactly a very strong, convincing one.

I think I read there is a 1% rate difference in STDs....but there is a 1% chance the procedure is botched in some way, so I dont really see the risk being worth it. There is no difference in pleasure for either partner according to studies.

TIL: Amish have their own phone booths. Got a couple calls from one from the guy I hired for remodeling my house. My dad told me about them and sure enough, there is a wiki page about them.

There is a great documentary on this on Prime as well. I believe it is called Azoras, which was the code name for the project.
