You're missing the obvious fact that Trump was in power for 4 years and then left,

Yeah but not without trying to usurp the Constitution by siccing a mob on Congress lmao

Moderator Action: Please move Biden's drop out to this thread and we can then resume here once the Dems have a new top of the ticket. thanks

I'm a libertarian. Pretty much every politician is authoritarian to me. There's a difference between saying someone is authoritarian without saying "They're Hitler and democracy is doomed". You're missing the obvious fact that Trump was in power for 4 years and then left, so suggesting he's going to go Adolf in 2025 is not a opinion that I can take seriously. And yes, progressives are authoritarians -- but that's not a topic for this thread. If you're interested check out the book Domestic Imperialism. It's free at the Libertarian Institute.
"and then left" :dubious:??

"And Mike Pence is going to have to come through for us, and if he doesn't, that will be a, a sad day for our country because you're sworn to uphold our Constitution.
Now, it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we're going to walk down, and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down, we're going to walk down.
Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.
Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong." -
Donald Trump - January 6th 2021, speaking to a crowd of supporters moments before the insurrection.
Doesn't sound like "leaving" to me... :shake:

Couldn't Biden have done this months ago, to give the new person a much better chance and more time to prepare? Geez

Isn't the replacement also highly unpopular generally speaking? I could be wrong about that, but I thought I heard that in passing. Why not go with someone who is at least a bit more popular?

The debate disaster was the catalyst 3-4 weeks ago. And subsequent polling.

If election was tomorrow I would expect Trump to win.

Dude, I've seen like an hour of footage of January 6. It's mostly people wandering around the Capitol building with police escorts. No guns. The only people who were killed were the trespassers. There's a documentary on Jacob Chansey, the Q Shaman guy, that includes a LOT of footage the Pravda media didn't show because it's not exciting. The same media, by the way, that on last Saturday were saying that Trump fell, that there were loud noises, etc -- not that he was shot. I stopped watching those corporate shills during the Iraq aftermath when I realized they were hand in glove with the military-industrial complex.

Tell ya what, in 2029 you can quote me again after Trump leaves office peacefully and there's been absolutely nothing happened besides more dumbassery in re: Iran and China, and perhaps some new dumbassery in re: Israel.

Yeaah, I think you're confusing the FBI goonie boys in the crowd with Trump. He told them to go home. But look, I've been interneting for 25 years at this point. I know no one has ever changed their opinions on an internet argument. I didn't become an ex-Republican through debates here, nor an ex-progressive through debates online. My mind changed because I saw things -- like Bush's military commission act, FISA act, etc, and Obama's renewing the PATRIOT act, etc -- that made me realize that DC is just a corrupt den of thieves with a FEW good eggs like Massie or Gabbard. I'm not going to toot Maranzano or Massiera's horns, thanks.

Surely somebody close to Biden was already well aware of his mental state and knew that he wouldn't be able to function as president, well ahead of the debate. I mean, is his mental decline a new thing that's suddenly gotten a lot worse? No way, I bet they've been hiding it as best as they could. This should have all been handled better.
