Beejj...child singers always look like dwarfs to me.

BTW who voted for Russia? That could give us some hint about possible future anexations.

Cool story bro :crazyeye:
It's hard to beat your story about rebels supporters being drunken Stalin lovers.

Aren't the EV songs supposed to be... new?
What next, the French come with La Marseillaise?
The video with "Katyusha" song is from Victory Day celebration on Red Square, 7 years ago.
I guess two girls singing old song on veterans commemoration day supposed to mean revival of Russian imperialism.

Ah, that makes more sense.

Revival of Russia imperialism hardly requires much proof at this point, but I can't really see what would be wrong with that particular song, or with those girls representing Russia on EV today...

Mariupol people mourn for police officers who died in fight with Ukrainian military 3 days ago:

Translation of writings:
"RIP. We'll never forget the people who was killed today in fight against fascism"
"Thank you for your courage and protection. We won't forget your deed"

Yep.

Hence my confusion.

There's nothing specifically wrong, I'm just pissed to hear the two twins are innocent victims of the context who didn't deserve to get booed.

The Tolmachevy sisters got popular in Russia by singing their dance version of Katyusha in the first place. They've always been very "patriotic". When I've seen they were chosen to represent Russia in the current context of annexation of Crimea, I clearly thought that was a provocation.

And no I'm neither particularly anti-Russian, nor anti-Katyusha. As a matter of fact, here's what I was writing about the song in 2011:

It is then that I heard about the Tolmachevy Sisters, and they are very popular in Russia.

Ummm, all those light bulbs exploding... Obviously a veiled allusion to Russian energetic blackmail to the west.

Cool story bro :crazyeye: Must be fun inventing these stories, a lot of creative work.

Yes, Russians have mastered photoshop to such a degree that they can just edit in whatever people they want with perfect realism, in every single frame.

Not to mention Stalin was perfectly fine with being pals with Hitler when it enabled him to occupy/annex parts of Finland, Romania, the Baltic states, and Poland, and then ignored clear warnings of an impending invasion. So definitely he "despite Stalin" applies here.

He also took a backwater country full of illiterate peasants and made it an industrialized great power. Stalin wasn't Hitler, he was evil but at least he was smart.

RT news report comes on air:
"Good morning. This is Russia Today. You will be Russia tomorrow..."

Donetsk People's Republic asks Moscow to consider its accession with Russia

Not a good thing, Ukraine should withdraw its troops and then, a proper referendum about that must be held with international supervision. If Russia will be dragged into this mess, the only hope is that Ukrainian troops morale is not higher than that of Georgians. Otherwise it will be a bloodbath.

I agree, a proper referendum with international observers (Western, Russian, and non-aligned countries like China) should monitor the situation and run the referendum, not armed gunmen. From the beginning I have believed this should be resolved by votes not riots and guns as both sides have been doing.

Meh, again with these 90% results. This time it's hardly believable though, Donetsk is not Crimea. It could be explained by the fact that most people who didn't want secession just didn't go there, as my family members did, but still.

Even if this vote was not recognized as binding, their voice has been heard. How do any two opposing ideologies get along under the same governing authority? One group has to compromise to a greater extent than the other.

Can anyone explain me why Ukraine would have to "choose" between Europe and Russia in the first place?

Considering its situation and context, it just doesn't make any sense to me. Why couldn't it be both?
