Well, the combat mod gives you some real new experiences.

With the newest additions it'´s time to turtle in and defend.

Why?

I just attacked a barbarian city with some Koas, barbarian defenders are stone axeman.
After four Koas were killed a quick mouse-over showed the barbarian units in full health.

I think this is not intended and needs some serious tweaking.

What were your odds in those attacks? And what rev #? The one I just pushed? Nothing I did there should've made the odds of outcome any different, at least not that I'm aware of. (Doesn't help I've never played with Koas so I'm not sure what str they are.)

It IS entirely possible you just had some really BAD luck! Have you looked at the combat logs?
 
I click through the download page tree starting from origin thread and get a file not available message.

Caveman 2 Cosmos sticky thread main post--> Download here --> Download file --> Download on the tool bar --> v27 link ---> Download Now ---> Click past the add via click to begin downloading --> and get a "The file you are looking for seems to be unavailable at the moment. Please come back later"

Considering that link is broken how do I get the new version?

Do not use the mirror site if at all possible.
 
No, i did not look at the combat odds.

But going back to rev 4202 (the one before you pushed your changes) showed the expected behavior as Koa beating Stone Axeman and Hunter killing Rockhopper Penguin.

I take your advice, it is entirely possible to just have bad luck.
On the other hand, there might also be the chance that this behavior could be based on the changes you just pushed.
 
With the latest SVN (4203) i am NOT getting the Combat odd i should be WHAT SO EVER????:mad: Something got changed "drastically!! I have noticed this on other units also.

Pic 1 My Crusader has 100% odds and LOSES:eek::mad: I said to myself, "oh thats just something that happened, so i re-did the start from there and POOF lost again(Pic 2), 3 times now?????

Logs and saved game attached also.


Also (3rd Pic) for ls612: The Ambusher is just staying IN the city limits and not moving around like he is supposed to, i have see that in the Assassin also lately?? Can't say on Thief's and Rogue, cause i never seen any?????

I have now tried four different units at 100% and LOST!!!

EDIT EDIT: OK i put back in the older dll from AIAndy and it works correctly again, Holy Jomba Juice, even str 3's are beating str 16's, so the NEW dll is wrong someplace??????

Are you seriously informing me I have to install some random program... just gain the privallege to try and download the game files?

That instant death thing sounds like the 'black spot' issue from circa v10. Some turns a unit would get what I called a 'black spot'. Anytime a black spot was on a unit it would die if it entered combat that turn. Odds didn't play into it. At all.

The only way to keep the unit was to not attack with it that turn. Has anyone having this issue passed the turn and tried attacking the next turn?

That or an issue from weeks ago with the SVN was never resolved.

I really dont know what is going on with ModDB now, it was never that way the last 4 months?? Sounds like they must have gotten some financial backing from GameFront. Plus the NEW GameFront sucks anyways. . . not like it used to be.

Actually it is desura they are partnered with, and apparently the only way not to use desura or the mirror sites is to register with ModDb. Some people (like me) don't like those options.
As far as the new GF goes: at least it now works with IE, it didn't before.

Of course, the "best" option is use the SVN, which I recommend. I simply wanted to try the "official" download on the very slight chance it solves my black tiles problem.

I had a quick look to se what you'd done, but the changes are far too large for me to pinpoint anything obvious. You'll need to single step through combat to figure out what broke.

One thing I DID see was that the load/save code is definitely broken and is likely to save one modifier but load it into a different one. I **doubt** this is the problem here (since nothing will have the new modifiers). I'll fix the load/save aspect after you fix whatever is wrong with the mechanism changes - just let me know...

PS - Koas are strength 8 with in-built anti-melee and city attack

I'm having a similar problem with my current game. I sent my javinaleer than my axemen, after a locust (small), it showed 0% chance of winning (the locust had no chance)... I lost both units in quick succession.
Reloaded (with the new seed on reload) same luck, same odds.
Units on defence seem to work out well, but heaven forbid I want to attack something more dangerous than a locust (small). :P

Is there a link to the older dll as a hold over?
Or do I need to revert to an older revision, back to before a .dll change.

EDIT:
Did a test, before I reverted to AIAndy's rev 4193, I set my Ranger up against a wild (barb) horse, in which I had 100% chance of victory.
In rev 4204, I lost 3 times in a row with reloads.
In rev 4193, I emerged victorious all 3 times.

So, somewhere between 4194 to 4204, something happened.
 
sigh... I even spent 30 min myself reviewing to see where it could possibly go wrong and hadn't found it... I'll go back to looking again tonight then. Sorry for the error!
 
Put it in a patch, not a SVN. Some of us don't do SVN's because they sometimes introduce more bugs than fixes.

Put what in a patch? The big bug here is AFTER V27, it's not IN V27.
 
The crime per trait feature is /waaaaay/ off the mark. Protective grants -2 crime per turn. Sure. Fine. Aggressive grants +30 and Nomad grants +40 per turn :eek: That can't possibly be intentional, can it?

Are you all using the SVN? or v27 Release?

If using SVN are you using a version with revision #4203 or above. If so it has a big problem please revert back to version #4202. Putting the cursor over your flag in the lower right next to minimap will tell what version you're using.

Oddly, its also a Bug option and needs to be disabled there as it defaults to on in that location. (I'll take a look at disabling it once I get a handle on ingame options which is one of the next tasks on the list.)
