Agreed. For example, I know this guy who got assaulted by some minorities and instead of being a man and dealing with it himself he joined a certain political party because he was too weak and stupid to survive without a group to hide behind.

It's really easy to realize too. I see people post on this forum "sorry in advance, english isn't my first language". They then proceed to write with better grammar and logical structure than COLLEGE STUDENTS whose FIRST language is english, and all that on a FORUM THAT ISN'T GRADED. Haha!

I can't help but agree with this. I look around my college campus and the campus the of the high school that I graduated from and can't help but think that 80% of these kids will grow up to be complete douchebags.

Ugh, so many people at my school are really narcissistic. I really think kids (including me, to an extent) are WAAAAAYYYY too spoiled. I doubt most kids even know the meaning of "respect" or "discipline".

Some of the article is correct, but I think the actual problem is overblown! Either that or we really are getting progressively worse with every generation.

I know studies say it's so ( NPI studies) but I'll let you know later this week when I give a group of spring college grads the "crashing down to Earth" speech.

Actually, I think, experience, naivete, and idealism will crash down on them more than their narcissism. What I will do is offer some suggestions to gauge their curiosity or willingness by exploring some "outside the box" ideas and suggest they follow up with me on the outcomes.

It will be interesting to see how they respond...

Actually the more "real world" stuff I get involved in, the more I realize that the "omg the real world will hit you like a ton of bricks lol!" stuff that old people say to college students is almost always false... the product of their trying to cling onto something or feel important or whatever.

I'm not saying thats the case with you mr. whomp, just that the whole school/realworld dichotomy is not as sharp as people (on both sides of it) make it out to be.

Or maybe its just that I'm a triple threat of academic, interpersonal, and organizational expertise such that I don't feel threatened by anyone in any setting because I'm so awesome at everything.
