What America and Europe have in common?

We laugh at French people?

The Enlightenment influenced political thought in both countries (a vast understatement).

Although Europe and America(U.S.A?) have a lot of differences, I think the following below covers it.

English Language, law, music, architecture, etc.
French notions of enlightenment (natural rights, rights, modern democracies, a form of individualism)
Food (except for the cheese, I mean)
Finally, another thing we have in common is that we both belong in "the west".

Warning, additional but metaphysical response!: We (as in, Western 'mainstream' society) both share Hebrew and Ancient Greek reasoning, in other words, our reasoning emulates Jehovah, Jesus, Plato, and that other Greek guy. You know, the gay one? o_o?

We both like football.

oh and Go Man U since BCLG told me to.

How is English common to Europe too? It's not even the most spoken language here! :p
Oh and trust me, the food is pretty different. ;) Especially if you go in the Balkans or in Russia.

You have to say "Aupa Osasuna"
OK I read that as [charlie brown teacher voice] whaa wha whaawhaawhaawhaa [/charlie brown teacher voice] :D

Aristotle? No, wait, I remember, it was Socraties, though, seeing as this is ancient greece, it would be difficult to pick out ONE.

But Plato was gay! Aristotle was the country bumbkin an Socrates was the fat guy...

Here where?

AFAIK English is the most common second language in Europe.

You negativist, start your own thread! This is about similarities! ;)

I'll admit I cheated a little bit when I said England and France counted as 'Europe', but it's European regardless. We don't necessarily have to find absolutely universal links between the continent of Europe and North America.

Regarding the food, I personally know of ten places, within thirty minutes of my home in New Jersey, that sell old fashioned Eastern European foods; like kielbasi, pierogies, and that terrible smelly liquid some of you people call borsch. Food from just about every country stays here in some form or another, which is why I claimed a commonality. American food isn't only McDonalds and Starbucks, don't ya know.

I think you're jumping the gun here Winner, there's no common Europe yet ;)

Europe has many differences and things in common within itself. America shouldn't feel alienated because we disagree on healthcare.
We both like football.
Whompster steps a further rung up the ladder to "God-Like Genius" being an American who knows the real name of the Beautiful Game
:goodjob:
(Bozo's Soccer Algorithm clicks in)
oh and Go Man U since BCLG told me to.
There are many things you shouldn't do because BCLG told you to. Supporting England's most hated team being just one.
You have to say "Aupa Osasuna"
Only if "Aupa" is Spanish for "who cares about the UEFA Cup, oh..."
Even in humor the Brits must be the US lap dogs? :(
That's unfair, we've been making fun of the French love of perfume and lingerie long before we became America's Lap Dog. We've only toned it down because we are afraid of those French Women who keep winning the 6-Nations
