Omg people are cheering for that pretentious butthead. We live in sad times when satan can have so much influence in such an obvious way. Sad.

This art is music. It stands quite apart from all the others. In it we do not recognize the copy, the repetition, of any Idea of the inner nature of the world. Yet it is such a great and exceedingly fine art, its effect on man's innermost nature is so powerful, and it is so completely and profoundly understood by him in his innermost being as an entirely universal language, whose distinctness surpasses even that of the world of perception itself, that in it we certainly have to look for more than that exercitium arithmeticae occultum nescientis se numerare animi [exercise in arithmetic in which the mind does not know it is counting] which Leibniz took it to be. -Schopenhauer

Recently saw that whole debate. Also the one with McGrath.

I strongly encourage everyone to watch the one with McGrath and pay close attention when he's talking. The man is making it an artform to speak without actually saying anything :)

Also, if you want to see a more philosphical debate, watch the McGrath and Dawkins one. Very civilized.

And my favourite Hitchens argument which would make reasoned people think again before using Stalin as an argument for the dangers of atheism :D

Sharpton was Hitchens's most unworthy opponent compared to the others. His best was David Wolpe, by far. I just like that particular Hitchslap for how derisively Hitch treats the question.

Lest I be accused of being dismissive of religion, let it be known that I take the subject seriously enough that I am willing to sit through 2 hours of it at a time. I'll go on record as saying that the existence of god is one of the most important topics of discussion. It is certainly something that deserves debate and discussion rather than mere preachment, for or against.

It can't be debated because it ultimately turns into a "scientific evidence" vs "faith" argument. Nobody can scientifically prove or disprove God, but that is what every debate will ultimately become.
